I was just wondering if Viagra (or any other ED drug out there now) would work as a "cure" for impotency. I'm not that familiar with erectile dysfunction or the drugs so I'm not sure.

Any help on this is appreciated. :) Thank you.

Viagra is not a recreational drug. It was specifically designed to deal with impotency and some of its causes. While Viagra will NOT cure the problem, it will allow for a man to get and obtain an erection. Think of Viagra as a sort of sexual insulin, if you have an erectile disorder that they can't fix, you'lll need viagra if you want to have sex.

Most docs, if they are any good, will warn guys not to use viagra unless they have a real need for it.

If the reason for impotence is psychogenically, it can be a "cure", increasing male selfconfidence a new

There are different kinds of "impotence." Viagra and related drugs were developed to treat impotence caused by physiological problems and are "cures" for that sort of impotence.

There might be some placebo effect on psychological causes of impotence, but sugar pills would work as well for that sort of "cure" -- if you believe a pill will make youpotent, then it just might. ;)

Physical impotence -- a problem with the actual mechanism of erection as opposed to a problem with the blood supply or mental state required to support an erection -- is probably not curable by anything other than surgery.

ED can be caused by strictly mechanical failure, in which case Viagra or its competitors will likely not provide any relief. Other times, the cause is limited blood supply to the penis. This is what Viagra does: it opens up the blood vessels that take blood into the penis. As they swell, the outgoing veins become blocked and the erection is maintained.

Some men experience ED for reasons that are mostly psychological. Depression is a common such cause. Many doctors report that men treated with Viagra (or a similar drug such as Levitra or Cialis) whose ED was due primarily to psychological factors often regain their virility simply from the relief of being able to engage in penetrative sex again. While the drug itself did not produce a cure, its effects contributed to a self-induced improvement.
