Prologue

The gate was opening.

In the bowels of the mountain, the sounds of the demon's heavy footsteps echoed in Eve's heart. She looked over to Damien as he fought, fire-wreathed sword clashing with that of the Demon Queen's in a blaze of glory. Eve's mind was torn- her eyes darted between her battling husband and the ever-growing red swirl behind him. She could hear the demons from beyond that gate, lining up, taking formation and readying themselves to charge the moment the gate was stable. If Damien failed, if the Demon Queen took him down, the gate would open and all of their sacrifice would be for nothing.

"Eve, come on, you need to go!" Amity said from behind her, hooking one arm through Eve's and tugging.

"I can't leave him I -"

"You're just a distraction!" Amity snapped, cutting off Eve's protest before it was complete Eve's eyes widened in anger, but then her face froze, pain lancing through her, as she got an awful tightening in her stomach. "Eve? What is it?"

The pain was gone almost as quickly as it had arrived, but when Eve put her hand on her swollen abdomen she knew it was far from over. The two children within her womb writhed, kicking at her insides, showing off their strength.

"Oh shit!" Amity said, green eyes widening as she took Eve's crouched position and where her hand was resting.

Then a crash and a cry from behind them.

"DAMIEN!" Eve cried out, blonde hair streaming as she turned, watching as her husband fell to the ground. The sword of the Demon Queen was pointed at his throat, the blade obscured by a mist of swirling black fog. In that moment their eyes connected, chocolate meeting silver, and she saw the horror there. She was supposed to stay behind. She had promised she wouldn't follow them.

"Eve-" Amity began, stepping in front of Eve protectively. "RUN!"

But Eve couldn’t. She was frozen. Transfixed by the sight of her husband so close to his death.

"So you brought a little friend?" The Demon Queen hissed, her voice made up of all the cries of pain and suffering over the millennia since she was crowned.

"NO! EVE!" Damien reached out to her, hand trembling.

"PATHETIC FOOL!" The Demon Queen Bellowed, kicking Damien back with one strong cloven hoof. She tossed her horned head back, and eerie laughter cascaded from her lips. "Come here Pretty One- let me see you up close!"

The Demon Queen's talon-like fingers crooked towards Eve, summoning her. Eve felt Amity's hand tighten on her shoulder, but the pull from the Queen's summoning was strong, magnetic, utterly irresistible. The children within her squirmed as her stomach tightened again.

Not now, now now! Eve chanted in her head as the agony wracked through her. Her feet slid against the damp stone floor, the smell of sulphur and ash hitting her like a solid force.

"No! LEAVE HER ALONE!" Damien grunted as he struggled to get up. His tired grey eyes focused on Eve, his skin pale and limbs shaking with the effort to hold his head up, sweat plastering his black hair to his head.

"Oh my! It seems that big tough Rex Itineribus does have a weakness after all!" The Demon Queen chuckled as she tugged Eve ever onward.

Eve's pain passed as she reached the dias that Damien and the Demon Queen were fighting on. Her knees collided with the over-large step and she fell forward, hands flying out to catch her and protect her children from the impact. Damien gasped in horror and the Queen only chukled more.

The Queen delivered another kick to Damien's head, and he slammed back into the hard stone. Eve let out a cry of horror, and she heard the sound of running feet behind her. She managed to look over her shoulder to see Amity fleeing, the tail of her red cloak disappearing around a corner. When she turned back the Queen was upon her, her foul-smelling breath making Eve feel weak as her brimstone eyes burned her soul. Her taloned hand flashed down, fingers grasping the protrusion of Eve's stomach, nails digging in.

"Yet I wonder..." The Queen murmured, holding Eve in her claws as blood seeped through the expectant woman's black shirt. She stopped, waiting, considering...

"No!" Eve cried, reaching down and grasping the Demon's wrist. She yelped as her hand burned, tears streaming from her eyes as she was caught. Another tightening pain sucked her in, and her world melted away in pain and horror as a scream tore from her throat.

"Fili diaboli.... personam qui regnarurus."

The words sliced through Eve's horror and pain, cleaved through her soul, taking root deep within her like a curse. She felt one of the babies move within, causing more agony from her contracted body.Child of the Devil... The One who will rule.

"NEVER!"

Came Damien's strangled cry. Just then the tip of a sword exploded from between the Demon Queen's breasts. Her grip on Eve's belly relaxed enough for Eve to step back. But before Eve could do anything more, the Queen turned, one strong arm swiping behind her, sending Damien sliding to the floor. She stalked towards him, reaching over her shoulders and pulling the sword from between them. In one swift movement she slashed down, severing Damien's head clean off and sending it rolling across the floor towards the portal.

"NOOOO!" Eve cried, leaping towards the Demon Queen in a stream of golden hair and brash foolishness. Their bodies collided and they tipped. The Queen's face contorted in shock as they tumbled.

The pounding of demon's feet from beyond the almost open portal was drowned out by the Queen's scream of rage. She tried to free herself from Eve's falling body but lost balance, stumbling back into the incomplete planar doorway. For one moment, the swirling light of the portal stopped, then a loud slurping sound filled the room. Sucking, devouring, it's hungry ether sucked the Demon Queen in hungrily.

Eve fell, her head colliding with the ancient stone of the portal brace, her body collapsing in a heap as her body began to shut down. Her eyes felt heavy, like lead, and all pain in her body disappeared. Her gaze drifted, meeting the dead steely gaze of her husband's severed head.

But they had succeeded.

They had won.

The portal snapped shut around the Demon Queen, setting the mountian Eve rumbling and shaking.

Eve's final breath sighed from her pink lips and the last thing she saw was Amity running towards her, leading a group of Hunters, tears streaming from her eyes.

NINTEEN YEARS LATER

"Hes on his way to you"

"I see him" Lekarus said rising up from his porch by the gargoyle. He supposed he looked like some teenage girls wet dreams. With his long black trench coat, his long white hair, his leather battle armor, and his piecing discolored eyes he looked every bit the rage those damn twilight books had brought on.

"If only you all knew how dangerous the real thing is" Lekarus or Lek as he was known to by his friends said snorting. He couldn't help but grin at that a wide pearly white grin that would have also made most females drool.

And he knew that to

"There you are" He remarked watching the man stumble out of the shadows of a side alley and run. He was so busy looking over his shoulders that Lek could have been right in front of him and he would not have noticed much less above.

"Okay practice patience and restraint" Lek said sliding his black hood up and taking a deep breath.

"Patience and restraint" He kept saying closing his eyes and listening out. His hearing was above and beyond a normal humans and he was easily able to track the man as he crossed.....

Now

He dropped down paying no attention to the ten story drop. His hidden blade on his wrist flicked out and he kept it poised as he slammed into the man.

Who was any thing BUT a man

"Demon scum" Lek growled the silver blade at the throat. Now that he was close the glamours the demon had been using fell away. His true face was revealed a monstrous looking thing with horns and a savage looking face.

"Lek!"

Lek growled hearing his brothers voice from the shadow of the alleyway. He turned his eyes narrowing as his brother came into the light clad in his own leather armor.

"Are you that worried im going to fly off the handle?" Lek remarked pressing the silver into the demons throat and ignoring the steam that came off.

"I get tired of the hand holding" Lek said getting up and lifitng the demon up by his shirt "You either trust me to be in the field or you dont"

"Its not like that and you know that" His brother Aegon said pushing his hood off "we have your back you know that I simply wanted to-"

"Operational silence" Lek growled out pushing the demon to his brothers waiting arms. He eyed him up and down like always they might as well have been looking in a mirror. His brothers only attempt to differentiate from him has been to cut his hair short where Lek had kept it long. Other than that there was no difference between the two. The strong features the handsome face, of course his brothers looked more earnest....

But he had always been the good one

"We have the demon" Aegon said ignoring his brothers words for now "no no one else saw and there were no issues"

"You can tell them I fucking behaved like a good boy" Lek growled going over and kicking a trashcan.

"And you're sure you're done this time?" Fallon's mother asked, looking at her sceptically. Fallon rolled her dark green eyes.

"Would I be handing it to you otherwise?"

"Fallon..." Her mother's voice was a warning as she flicked through the pages on her tablet.

"Well, would I?" Fallon pushed, knowing it probably wasn't wise, but annoyed enough to continue to further test her mother's patience.

"Would you? Yes. You would and you have. Remember last time?" Fallon's mother looked up from the screen for a second, green eyes full of exasperation.

"Amity- we have a situation!" One of the upper level hunters dashed into the room, looking out of breath, as he snatched Amity's attention away from her daughter. Some of the scribes and scryers in the room paused their work, looking up at the intruder with interest.

Amity got to her feet, putting the data pad down on her elaborate mahogany desk. Her eyes turned to Fallon, pinning her on the spot as she stood tall and refused to wither under the glare.

"Go!" Her mother said, rolling her eyes. "But don't think for one moment that I will forget to check your work. If you messed up you will be assigned to desk duty for two weeks!"

Fallon bounced on her toes, unable to believe the stroke of luck, before dashing out of the room. She jumped over the scrying table and ducked around the edge of the scribe's stands, giving the Hunter a grateful wink before escaping for good.

~*~

Unfortunately for Fallon, Lek and Aegon's mission was over almost before it began. She had just made it to the gates of Quadrivium when she saw the brothers striding towards her, hauling a demon between them. Lek, with his long white hair, was wearing the expression he wore when Aegon had pissed him off.

"So, how'd it go?" Fallon asked, unable to mask the disappointment in her tone. The light spring breeze flirted with her short hair, bouncing the choppy locks over her face.

Instead of being out in the field with Lek and Aegon, part of their team as Fallon was supposed to be, she had been summoned by her mother (and Rex of the Via Mortales) to complete some rubbish quarterly capture report, under the pretences of training. The worst part of it, in her opinion, was that all three of them were supposed to be in training for the position of Rex. Somehow though, she was always the one that got stuck in the office. She supposed it should have been a good sign, that she was the one in the lead for the role at the time, but if she was going to be Rex later in life she wanted to enjoy her time in the field while she had it.

Fallon gestured for the guards to hold the gates open as the brothers, her friends, walked through. She stepped into stride with them, knowing they would be headed to the Carcere Daemon to drop off their latest capture. The facility was right at the back of the Quadrivium grounds; it was both a prison and permanent one way (return only) portal to the demonic plane.

"Lek! Aegon!" An enthusiastic voice echoed across the square. Fallon turned to see Cassius racing across the square and sliding to a stop in front of the twins. The boy, all of eleven years old, cast his sister nothing but a perfunctory glance. Their green eyes matched, but Cassius had inherited his mother's brown hair, while Fallon had her father's raven colouring.

"Piss off Cassius. You'e supposed to be in training," Fallon said, rolling her eyes as the child danced on the balls of his feet excitedly.

"Nup, we were dismissed. Hunter Slade was summoned to help mum on whatever emergency there is," Cassius said with a shrug. His joy at getting the afternoon off lessons was clearly enough to stop what would normally score Fallon the 'whiny' voice.

The demon between the twins grunted and Cassius grinned with delight.

"So- minotaur demon! Where'd you pick him up? How'd you take him down? Did you get seen? Was he incognito or demonic form? Was he alone?" Cassius asked, rapid fire, before turning to Fallon. "See, told you they didn't need you! They're awesome without you!"His keen eyes then turned back to the twins, a look of complete and utter hero worship on his face.

LEK POV

"You know brother if you starred any harder at me you might actually burn a hole into my head"

The twin brothers stepped out of the portal built into the brick wall at the far side of the field. Almost immediately it closed becoming nothing more than a outline of a door covered in various runes.Their main method of transportation only Via Mortales knew the passcode to access the portal.

"I am merely concerned brother" Aegon replied back "You forget some times I can sense the general mood of your thoughts.... The joys of being an empath"

"You know I do NOT approve of you peeking inside of my head" Lek replied giving the demon a shove forward as they began to tramp along the field.

"I wasnt aware" Aegon dead panned his legendary sarcasm coming out in full force "I shall do my best to remember that"

"Ha!" Lek said snorting and glancing back at him "You know for the golden boy there is some thing a little fucked up about you"

...................................

AEGON POV

"Is there" Aegon said a sudden rush going through his body.

Did he suspect?

He doubted it his brother was after all to busy dealing with his own percieved darkness to question if Aegon had any. Aegon also prided him self on keeping such.... unsavory things hidden, there were very few if any truly who would ever suspect the truth behind his eyes.

And his desires

"Here she comes" Lek murmured his eyes suddenly taking on an entirely new aspect as some one rushed towards them.

Ah and there she was indeed

Aegon could admire even though he could not feel any thing the girl who was rushing towards them. Fallon daughter of Amity the girl who would one day be Rex was quite the fetching creature and her tittle well soon to be tittle made her all that more a prize.

It was also no secret Lek was in love with her

Aegon noted Lek moving to talk to her and rushed forward before he could say any thing.

"Well but not as well when your involved" Aegon said with a wink as he felt Lek bristle behind him "I am more curious to know how the training went did you learn any thing new?"

"Trust Aegon to be more curious about paperwork" Lek said pushing the demon to a stop.

"It is a part of the over all process even if your bull headed to think of such things"

Before Lek or even Fallon could retort Fallons brother Cassuis was rushing forward. Aegon struggled to keep his annoyance in check. Children were harder than other people for him as he detested them and found them to be more annoying than even demon scum.

But still he had a part to play

"Well hello there little one" Aegon said laughing at his rapid fire questions "Aren't you-"

...........................

LEK POV

"Kids dont like it when you call them little one" Lek said pushign the demon into Aegons arms "How about you go show me your moves kid? Lets see if Hunter Slade managed to beat any new moved into that thick head of yours" Lek said coming over and ruffling his hair.

"and Fallon and I can go deliver the demon" Aegon said smirking and glancing back over at her.

Lek cursed inwardly having not thought of that. Here he was trying to impress Fallon and he had inadvertantly handed her to Aegon on a silver platter. He wanted to back track to say he was to busy to do it but the look Cassuis was giving him was unfortunately one he could not say no to.

"That works" Lek finally said shrugging "Come on kid"

And with that they stomped over to the training grounds

Watching the brothers arguing about the paperwork made Fallon roll her eyes. Trust Aegon to try and put a positive spin on it. Though for all his tact and diplomatic leaning, Aegon was terrible with kids, no matter how hard he tried. It was lucky that he had Lek to jump in and save him, as she saw Cassius' eyes narrow at being referred to as 'little one'.

But then poor Lek put his foot in it. Cassisus' face contorted into a straining expression of utter glee at the possibility of showing off his moves. He was all but bouncing up and down at the prospect. Lek didn't look impressed at missing out on delivering the demon, but Fallon turned to him, patting his shoulder with her nose scrunched up, lips miming 'sorry' as she apologised for her nuisance of a brother.

"At least that means Aegon has to file the report!" Fallon called out after Lek, slipping her shoulder under the demon's armpit and helping Aegon with the burden. "So, what's got him all emo?" She asked Aegon as they started walking once more. The sulphurous smell of the minotaur demon was overpowering, she had to breathe through her mouth in order to avoid gagging.

"Oh you know my darling brother" Aegon said glacning back and snorting at her choice of words. Not many things amused him but Fallon always had a way of saying things in a sarcastic manner that brought a chuckle out of him.

"Wrestling with his inner darkness" Aegon told her "Ever since the incident last spring hes been struggling to control his anger and dealing with the fallout out from it I worry about him but he refuses to talk to me about it I think he blames me for being his new watch dog"

The "incident" of course, his little test to see how far he could push Lek. Two demons who at the time had decided to try their hands at being serial killers. They had terrorized the moral plane and specifically their city of Los Angeles for months.Their murders were gruesome and they had enough knowledge to know how to invade Via Mortales.

Not that Aegon had looked ALL that hard.

If there was one thing his brother hated it was demons. He hated them with such a passion and anger that it drove him to be the best fighting Via Mortales had seen since their father.

With that skill however came anger, anger about their mother and their father, anger about the prophecy hanging over both of their heads. Lek truly HATED demons and innocents getting killed only brought that out of him more.

So Aegon had pushed

For some one who had spent his life faking his emotions it was easy to manipulate and play to his brothers more ragged raw feelings. He sympathized with him expressing anger and disgust when it was needing and the final push.

They found him 24 hours after the last killing. He had found them hunting them down with such a passion and drive that the supernatural underground gave him the tittle of punisher. They were dead by the time he was found but it was clear from the very start that he had taken his time.

That he had tortured them

Killing a demon was bad enough, on the whole Via Mortales tried to send them back so they would not be able to come back. A killed demon had the potential to go out and possess some one if they were killed fast enough and in a circle of binding. The goal was not to let them possess human host as then the church had to get involved and it was a mess at the best of time.

Killing and torturing one was another thing entirely.

The council had gotten together and held tribune. Aegon had testified done every thign possible to get his brother pardoned. He still needed him after all and if he was being honest his brother had been the only one he could say he loved. He argued that to them this would always be a personal vendetta and that demons had killed both of their parents.

He was good at playing the crowd

"He is grating under the probation is all" Aegon said pushing the demon to the portal which wrapped it in tendril like energy and sucked it in "It isnt easy for him the underground still sqaukes in fear when he comes by and they still call him the punisher"

Ah yes, the incident. In one way Fallon could understand why Lek was still worried about that. If she had an ancient prophecy like the brothers', and she had gone on a torture-filled-honeymoon with a demon, she would probably be counting down the last threads of her own goodness. But when Fallon thought of Lek she didn't think of Evil. Hot-tempered, rash, rebellious, angry... Though when he did things like he had just done with Cassius, well, Fallon knew that there was a lot of good still in him.

"I don't blame him," Fallon replied in relation to the probation, "Fuck, I grate under paper work. I can't imagine being watched like he is."

Fallon watched the demon being roped and sucked into the portal with a grin. She always loved watching the bastards being damned back to their own horrid realm.

"Well, that was the easiest demon catch I've ever had!" Fallon joked, brushing her hands together as if it was a job well done. "Do you want a hand with the paper work or shall I go and rescue your brother from mine?"

"You really want to go be with my brother?" Aegon asked pretending to be hurt as he leaned against the wall and crossed his arms.

"I mean we could do paperwork" Aegon countered before reaching out to run his fingers down her neck "Or we could go some where else" He said pushing himself off the wall.

"Go do.... Some thing else" He said leaning until their lips were inches apart before turning "Of course if you would rather go do paperwork" He called walking off.

Possessing her was some thing he didnt have to do not truly at least. It would however piss his brother off and while he loved his brother....

He did like pushing his buttons.

Fallon laughed at Aegon's comments. Well, at least until the tone of them changed. Her eyes widened, shocked, as he reached out and stroked her neck. His words, well, there was something suggestive there that she hadn't picked up on before.

Looking into Aegon's eyes, that familiar face frowned by his short white hair... It did odd things to her stomach (and lower regions). His lips were so close to hers that all it would take was one tiny move from her...

And then he was gone. Off to do paperwork. Fallon was left dizzy in Aegon's absence. She stood up straighter, watching as he disappeared out of the portal room and into the corridor beyond. She wasn't sure what to think of what Aegon had just done, but a sensible side of her decided to brush it off. It was probably nothing. He was just teasing.

Fallon jogged to catch up with Aegon, putting a hand on his shoulder and giving him an apologetic smile.

"I'm gonna jet," she said, looking around the dark stone halls of the prison. "I need to be outdoors Aegon, Mum kept me trapped for too long. I'll see you later, yeah? It is Friday after all. Unless you've decided that you no longer want to go clubbing on Fridays?" Fallon teased, referring to the standing date that she had with the brothers to explore the shadier (usual demon-attracting) clubs downtown.

"Thats to bad" Aegon said his dark eye glinting as they moved into the main building which was referred to as command "I was looking forward to... getting into trouble with you"

He turned winking at her before opening the door "My brother and I shall be there or at the very least I will" He told her a smirk of pleasure crossing his face before he disappeared inside.

................

LEK POV

"come on kid if your going to hit me hit me!"

Lek dodged Cassius attempts to hit him. He could have also knocked his training sword clear out of his hand or walloped him but Lek was content to let the boy hone his skills and try to slip under his guard.

"I cant!" Cassius grunted his eyes narrowing as he concentrated.

"Come on kid I dont want to hear cant" Lek said his voice taunting him as he danced around another flurry of blows "I want you to hit me! I know you can!"

Lek pale skin tightened as he moved back dodging his sweeping upper thrust. It felt good to be training once more with his fellow VIa Mortales. Of course he had never been forbidden from training with them but most besides Fallon and his brother had shied away from him.

"To dangerous my ass" Lek growled rolling away and narrowing his eyes. He brushed some of the dirt off of his bare shoulders and rose to meet Cassius slash with his own sword. Their training swords rang out as they hit each other and lek smirked before he kicked him back.

"Nice try kid" Lek said as he tumbled into the dirt "You almost got me"

Fallon waved farewell to Aegon as he disappeared through the door, then made her own way back to the training ground. It wasn't hard to find Lek and Cassius. The other hunters had taken the afternoon off by the look of it, and her brother and best friend were sparring. Lek was being good about it, jumping around and missing Cassius' blows, but not beating him to a pulp.

Fallon crossed the training ground, picking up a training sword for herself as she walked towards them. She laughed heartily as Cassius was kicked back, his face turning into a grumpy frown. He glared at her, but she shrugged it off.

"Come on Cass, don't tell me you are letting Lek win!"

"I dont think he has a say in the matter!" Lek said chuckling as Cassius glared at her sister. Lek looked at her as well though where Cassius was glaring Lek had an expression of adoration and if any one looked at it to closely.

Love

Lek was smitten with Fallon of course no one knew it (well besides his brother who knew every thing!) but he was smitten all the same. With her being here he stood straight and reached for his shirt to wipe some of the sweat and dirt off of his chest.

"I figured Aegon would have kept you longer" Lek said raising an eyebrow as she picked up a training sword "Are you here to dance mi amor?" He asked his eyes dancing as he eyed the sword.

"Ha! He would have liked to!" Fallon laughed, swinging her sword about, testing the weight. "But there was no way I was helping him do his paperwork. I've done enough paperwork today. Fuck that!"

"Fallon! Mum said-" Cassius' eyes were wide. Fallon rolled her own eyes at him.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck. If you want to be a hunter you're gonna have to get used to the word kid," Fallon sighed. She and her brother glared at each other for a moment, sizing each other up, before Cassius let out a low 'hmph' and looked away.

"Now Cass, wanna see what a real fight looks like?"

And with that Fallon leaped towards Lek, grinning like a madwoman, as her sword slashed low towards his gut.

"Now Cass, wanna see what a real fight looks like?"

"Or what your sister thinks is one" Lek shot back his sword flicking out and sending her reeling back "Honestly Fallon you have to jump at me in order to try to hit me? Not very sporting of you...."

He narrowed his eyes sizing her up as he raised his sword "How about we make it a bet? If you can land on hit on me i'll fulfill one request and if I land a hit you shall as well" He told her moving in a slow arc as he put one hand behind his back to steady himself. His eyes danced with amusement and a flirting like as Cassius looked on in glee.

"You're on!" Fallon said, with a wicked grin. She knew exactly what her request would be. "Though you can dance better than this! Now make a move Lek, or are you worried you'll lose?" She teased, prowling around the circle with him, readying herself for his attempt to strike. Lek was a vicious fighter, so she watched him carefully for any sign he was going to lash out.

"You really shouldnt bait me" Lek said a low chuckle moving out of his chest as she moved at him.

"And your still moving to fast! To headstrong!" Lek said his sword flashing as he parried and pushed her back "Now let me show you just how well I dance!"

He moved forward pushing himself at her. He had always been faster than her and his brother. He was the master of combat which is what made him so dangerous.

And why every one was so wary of him

He dodged her sweeping upper slash. He brought his own sword up parrying and pushing her sword up as he elbowed her. He felt her double over and he dropped his sword grabbing her and flipping her over his shoulder to slam into the training ground.

"My win" He growled out straddling her and leaning in until their lips were inches apart "And now my request...."

"A Kiss"

Fallon was thrown to her back and let out a loud oof of breath as Lek straddled her. Her back was aching and Cassius' appreciative laughter tinkled through the air. Her cheeks reddened and then she heard Lek's request.

"And now my request...."

"A kiss"

Fallon's eyes widened in shock for a moment as she looked into Lek's familiar and hot face. What the hell was with these boys today? She wondered if they had some bet going, some practical joke. Though it wouldn't be horrible to kiss Lek. Actually, Fallon realised, it might even be quite nice.

"Haha, okay... What do you really want?" Fallon asked with a short awkward laugh.

"I was being serious" Lek said frowning at her reaction "Actually I would very much like to-"

"What are you doing?"

Lek growled eyes narrowing as he looked up at Aegon. His brother was standing at the edge of the training circle his hands behind his back as he starred at them both. Go away Lek silently begged him knowing his brother could pick up on his emotions quite easily.

Just like he knew Aegon wasnt REALLY interested in Fallon

AEGON POV

"I didnt realize you two were sparing without me" Aegon said moving forward unable to stop the pleased smirk from crossing his face "And here I was coming to see what you two were up to if we were still on for tonight" He said smoothly pretending to be innocent.

They both knew that was Bull Shit

Fallon's stomach flip flopped at Lek's words. Having him so close, being pinned down by his familiar weight... In that moment she could imagine kissing him and she thought she may enjoy it. Despite her confusion her face inched up towards his ever so slightly...

And then the moment was broken. Fallon pulled her face away from Lek's and looked at Aegon with a tinge of guilt in her sheepish smile.

"I'm still good for tonight, provided I can still walk properly once I get up."

Aegon POV

"I would hope so" Aegon said smirking at Lek as he helped Fallon up "I hope my brother wasnt to rough with you that you cant dance with me tonight"

Aegon watched (with barely repressed glee) as his brother struggled to keep his emotions in check. He was so easy to rile up, so easy to play with. Even know he could see it the set of his jaw the furtive glares.

"Oh brother you could be so much more if you stopped suppressing that sweet sweet anger" Aegon thought to himself as he ignored Lek.

But that would come in time

"I finished the paperwork" Aegon said smirking "So shall we get going?"

"The clubs should be open any minute now" Aegon said checking his watch "we should get a move on" He said glancing at them both unable to stop the smirk from crossing his face.

Lek still had not moved from on top of her, and Fallon could feel the muscles of her body clench in anger at his brother's presence.

"Mum said you're spending too much time in those clubs," Cassius tutted, trying to act grown up, despite the fact that his eyes were still wide from the interaction that he had just witnessed.

"Looks like we both have a pain in the arse brother," Fallon stage-whispered to Lek with a roll of her eyes and an apologetic smile.

"I just need to get ready..." Fallon added, louder this time as she waited for Lek to move off her.

Lek POV

He had been so busy glaring at his brother that he hadnt quite realized he was still on Fallon.

She said some thing again and he blushed moving off.

"Sorry" He told her grabbing her arm and hoisting her back up.

"We should probably go change to" Aegon said gesturing at their Via Mortales gear. It consisted of a black leather trench coat with a beaked hood, leather training gear designed to look non descript while still providing as much protection as it could, and steel toed boots. Gone unfortunately were the days when full armor could be used. This was the best they could get away with but it was NOWHERE near as good as it could be.

"I agree" Lek said moving past his brother "You stick out enough already" He teased him as they headed back to the boys dorm rooms.

"Coming form my identical twin thats saying some thing" Aegon dead panned "Dont be pissy because I ruined your plan to force her into a kiss"

"I won fair and simple" Lek growled pushing through the doors and going up to the basement "Why are you doing this? You dont like her not like I do"

"Who said" Aegon remarked stopping at his door "Maybe I do" He remarked leaning against the door.

"Ha" Lek said snorting "You may have every one else fooled Aegon but I know you brother you dont care about any one your incapable"

"Not true" Aegon said looking hurt "I care about you"

"Ha" Lek said snorting "If you do then stay away from Fallon" He said before slamming his door to get changed.

Aegon's Room, Demonic Plane

It was an odd place, this. The Queen enjoyed being here though. One day she would take it on all three planes, she would rule it with her taloned fist. For now though she had it on only one plane. And it made her angry. Not only had she lost her first invasion attempt, but she had also lost her form. But not for long.

The seething, writhing flames of hateful energy swirled around the darkening room, pushing against the walls between the planes, testing then, needing them desperately to be weaker.

And then he arrived.

Even through the planar barriers she could feel him. His presence was a connection to the other side. To his side, and that elasticized barrier she had thrown her consciousness against before was now one step closer to snapping. All she needed was the tiniest of gateways, just a slither

"Find me a girl," she hissed, in a voice that was a thousand voices all in one yet completely silent. It would be received as a prickle against his skin, a heating of his blood, a sudden drive. "Find me a girl to possess. Find me a host. Bring me into your plane and I will make all of your dreams come true." The poison whisper continued, repeating in his body until her will joined with his own, became his own.

AEGON POV

The words wrapped around him comforting him enticing him and bolstering him. The voices had scratched at his brain for a while tempting and teasing and drawing him in.

He wasnt sure where the voice was coming from or who it was but he knew whoever it was knew him.

And who he truly was

The promise of power and rule ignited his own drive to take control. There was very few that Aegon felt any emotion towards. His brother was one, killing was another, but nothing got him quite as revved up as power. The desire to rule.... The desire to control it sent a rush through him he could not find any where else.

And the voice was offering it in spades.

"A girl huh?" Aegon murmured shaking his head as he went to pull out one of his nice button shirts.

"I know just the one"

LEK POV

"God you always take forever to dress" Lek murmured noting his brothers closed door and shaking his head "It boggles my mind"

He decided not to wait for him instead grabbing his leather jacket and sliding it over his large frame. He stuck his hands in his ripped jeans moving down the staircase and onto the main grounds.

"Fallon you ready yet?" He asked leaning against the wall and looking for her.

Fallon wasn't one of those girls that floundered about when getting ready. She was terribly efficient. Even today with every distracting reason he had to take her time (what was with the twins' weird behaviour)? Though the pull of the familiar routine was irresistible; shower, dry, straighten hair apply make up. It was like preparing for battle in a way, every motion practiced and comforting. She slipped into some of her nicer underwear (hoping to dance with some nice guys tonight to distract herself from a crappy day) and a form fitted deep red dress. Her heels were far too impractical to wear on a day to day basis, but for tonight they were perfect. She grabbed her ID, her phone and some cash, not bothering to get a bag as she tucked it all into her cleavage.

When Fallon walked down the stairs and into the common area Lek was already waiting. Memories of the afternoon flooded back and a pink blush peaked through her light layet of foundation. The skin of her arms and most of her legs were bare in the chilling evening air, the swirling runes of her position marked on her skin in a light, silver grey.

"Hey," she said with a big smile, "Guess we're waiting on old Cinderella, huh?" She laughed, referring to the nickname Aegon had earned for always being the last to arrive to party
