Has anyone else out there been following the adventures of Colin Vast as closely as I have. When I get to work each morning, the first thing I do is check up on the next chapter - its absolutely captivating! There isn't much sex in the story but the sexual tension and the quality of writing carry it off perfectly. The writer (Nicholas Travers) has an excellent style that really penetrates the mind of the reader with wonderful descriptive prose. It all seems so real - as if it was a diary almost. I could be way off the mark but, this guy MUST be in a dull marriage desperately trying to get out but not brave enough to do so. He must also be a bit of a finance expert as well. I've been lost by some of the technical bits I must admit.
Anyway, I thought I'd just stick m neck out and say that this story is the best I've read on this site and its also by far the least pornographic. I've voted 'Awesome' (or whatever it is) for every single chapter.

Well Done Nicolas!

Love,
Crystal

Have to agree with you Crystal, I've been hooked on "Vast" ever since Laurel brought up the subject on whether on not to put it up. I just want to say that I'm glad she did. Funny thing about it not having that much sex in it though is that I haven't really seemed to notice...I mean I've just gotten so caught up in the whole story and the characters. Colin with his Walter Mitty-esque appeal, Jane the controlling wife, Sarah the scheming adolescent, Dorothy a Lolita worthy of Nabakov, all the folks at the Bat Group...I mean God, it has an almost soap opera appeal, just sucks you right in...

Anyway, kudos Mssr. Travers, very well done indeed...looking forward to the next chapter

Yep, it's over. At least, that's the end of that novel. Maybe Mr. Travers will write a sequel? Though it seems unlikely.. I agree, Crystal - it's a bummer ending, but the last line is awesome, pulls it all together.

Oh - its over

It seemed to end a bit abruptly but guess I knew it would. Bravo though Nicolas - a great tragedy!

It's over???

Ummmmm....I don't think so Crystal, I mean I just finished reading Ch. 23, and nothing seems to be over to me...as a matter of fact the plot is only thickening..."chemical castration" indeed!!!

Maybe you've not had a chance to read this far yet, but I have a feeling Mssr. Travers has more than a few twists and turns left for us, and I for one can hardly wait

.

C'mon now, somebody else out there has to be following this serial, surely Crystal and I aren't the only ones to be spying in on the daily adventures of Colin and his acquaintances...someone else must be hooked too???

Anyway, fine job as always Nicolas, keep it coming

I have only read the first 2 installments, so I have quite a bit to catch up on....I like it so far

Okay Madam Laurel, if it's over then why did you put to be continued... at the end, just as if it were one of the ongoing chapters up to that point *scratching head* That's why I thought it was still going...We are talking about Chapter 23 here aren't we? The one posted today?

And what do you mean that the last line pulls it all together? What of the hired guns that "Evil Vice" has set upon the runaways' trail? What trouble does Jane's father set in motion in defense of his daughter and grandaughter? How does the market re-act to Colin's article on Glotech? What does the Sultan's take over of the Bat Group mean for it's employees? Will Colin run afoul of the new Home Secretaries Morality policies? And let's not forget what trouble may be coming Colin's way from the interfering Mrs. Scolding, to say nothing of what happens to the drugs and cash and.....AAARRRRGGGGHHHH, IT CAN'T BE OVER!!!! *pulling self together for a moment*

Sorry, lost control, well if that's the end I guess that's the end *sigh*, maybe Nicolas will send in a (desperately needed)sequel, anyway if he does, I'll be reading it.

BTW Crystal, how DID you know it was over with that to be continued... tagline? I guess I was just too daft to catch the symbolism in the "Angel of Death" allusion...*shrug*

Ack! You're right - I'm a day ahead of you all... Twenty lashes for me... Yikes! Good thing I didn't give anything away, rh? Well, not TOO much...

Hello again. No Havocman I wasn't being clever, it was just the words 'The End' that helped me deduce that the story was over! I think Laurel sweetheart must have a made a small mistake because chapter 24 wasn't posted in the 'New Stories' section but it was posted in the Author A-Z section. So that explains that.
I feel quite lost without my daily dose of Colin

Gotch Laurel (got the email) You can ignore that last post! Hope you ahve a magic time in Venis. maybe it will inspire you to write a saucy tale of romance and canals on your return!

Okay, I've just read Ch. 24, and now I know what you both meant...sorry to see it end that way, and yeah it was abrupt, and yeah the last line wrapped it up...and yeah I'm gonna miss Colin et.al

Friends, I wrote Vast in a bid to picture a sad man who seeks and finds a kind of salvation (many seek, but few are rewarded). I also sought deliberately to play down desire - passion is a hidden force that drives us all beneath the surface of our lives, but only rarely surfaces - we might
dream of copulating from dawn to dawn, but few - if any - achieve that dream. We have a force in our minds, but it is only rarely matched by our achievements. Fate is also a very moral force, as poor Colin discovers. I
have also posted another novel, and some short stories, at: http://www.fortunecity.co.uk/library/humour/48 and, if you are brave, you can read in 'Terror' how women can wreak revenge. I am sure Lorana Bobbit would take pride in me. Email me at writernic@hotmail.com as well: I am a writer, and I write for you.
