I never liked Van Halen. Van Halen is a great guitar player, sure, but I never got the popularity of the group. The songs just weren't very good, and the lyrics were a joke. I never classified them as heavy metal. Just my opinion, though.

Never heard/read a complaint about Alec all these years. Last year a woman went on Stern to promote her book about being the biggest rock & roll slut ever. She had the goods on so many but kept quiet about some despite Stern trying his best to coerce her.

Her bottomline was that Alec Van Halen was her best lover ever and that she really fell for him.

I enjoy Queen quite a bit just like I enjoy Van Halen's earlier years. I do not however give a fuck who plays bass for them.
