I am thinking about joining a bunch of my friends in the popular RP and I don't know much about the different types of "classes"
I admit I took a lame-assed quiz on it and I scored as a Lamsobre...(spelling?) What does that mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I can't do much in the way of clarification, but I can give some hints.

VtM is/was a live action role playing game. Each player takes on a persona and actually acts out the story.

I'm not familiar with the quiz but it may have served the purpose of picking a clan, or family within the Kindred (vampires) that is most suited to you.
Each clan follows a different philosophy. I think the one you mentioned is Lasombre but I'm not totally sure of the name and have no idea of any specifics of the clan itself.

Thanks! I will be talking to my friends about this early next week...

Hrm.

Are you talking about V:tM the table-top, V:tM the LARP, or V:tM the MUSH?

Table-top game: you make a character and sit around a table with your friend while the Storyteller (ST - the V:tM version of a Dungeon Master) leads your characters through the story.

LARP: Live action role-play. You dress up in costume as your character. Usually there is more than one ST, and they mediate combat scenarios and keep track of what's going on as you play out your character's goals.

MUSH: Multi-user shared habitat (or hallucination). There are more V:tM MUSHes on the net than you can shake a stick at, and they're all a little different, but the overall theme is the same: log in, make a character, play in an online environment where the story is going on 24/7.

All of these fit under the header Vampire: the Masquerade. :)

If you're talking about LARP and the organization known as the Camarilla, I would be cautious. They're currently in the midst of some disagreement with White Wolf (owners of the V:tM game) that could end in a legal battle. I would suggest keeping your membership fee and waiting to see how it pans out.

Wow, my geekiness has, for once, been used for good instead of evil. :D

Generally, the best way to figure out the game is to read the books. They contain information about the character generating, Kindred clans, and details of role play. Second, ask for a list of house rules. Third: OBEY ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, AND RULES OF V:TM WHILE PLAYING. If you've known these people for a while, great, the longer the better, be cautious, especially if you do LARP of Vampire (they spell it with an I, not a y), and if they tell you that house rules including bending the weapons clause, DO NOT GET INVOLVED.
