Am I the only one that thinks Valentines Day is a complete waste of time? I just don’t see anything romantic in doing something because everyone else is doing it.

I gave it up years ago but still get told I’m a boring, tight, git, by the people that buy into it. I just like to think I’m not easily led

Odd. When I actually do something for Valentine's Day, I do it because I want to, not because everyone else is. Silly me.

Besides, any day that contributes to the yearly quota of holiday candy is good in my book. :D

Yep, I'm with you there.

Also, romantic or loving gestures do not need to cost money. In fact, the most meaningful cost nothing at all (except maybe emotionally, but this is about money, so we won't go there).

It doesn't even have to be "romantic", sexy is also good.

BUT, I do kind of get part of your meaning, Mr Boom (if I am correct in assuming this). It shouldn't take one special day in the year to show those you love how much you love them. It's an on-going thing.

Me too. I prefer the emerald cut, or round brilliants.

Actually... Valentine's Day is one of those 'Get a FUCKLOAD of credit from the female-kind!' even if it's all just cliches.

Some flowers, some chocolate, a nice meal, a little loving and somehow to a lot of women it's more meaninful on this day.

Whatever!

I'm not going to look a gift-horse in the mouth... Thank You to whoever thought this holiday up.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Dude, you'd best hope most girls aren't like me, or you're screwed. I don't want no thoughtless, obligatory flowers or candy.
(I can't speak for other women, but generally I find gifts more meaningful on holidays for the simple fact that everytime a boyfriend has given me something not on a holiday or my birthday, it became arguement ammo.)
