Valentine's day in Saudi Arabia?

What is it about anhedonics that makes them try to make every one else as miserable as they are?

I just read an amazing article on female suicide bombers today. Why they are doing it?

It essentially boiled down to them hating their lives, and preferring to die over living an arranged marriage, the shame of adultery, a loveless husband. It made me very sad. I had not thought about it from this angle before.

When life is made intolerable, wouldn't paradise at the end of a bomb be a better choice?

I understand that, but these women are mothers. Usually a mother stays around for her child, no matter what.

I think that if men in both sides understood the sort of despair that leads a mother to such an act, they would take a different path. One can only hope.

My thought is that in that culture, the child isn't the mother's but the father's. The woman just produces the child so the father can own it.

Sad.

Theyre crazy as outhouse rats, and we better appreciate it.

I just saw a video of a lebanese tv celebrity called Haifa Wehbe. Well, she can't dance, sing or act, but she is really hot. At first I was like, 'but hey, that looks like a free country.'

Turns out she has not seen her daughter in ten years. Her husband can do that, because she is a tv "slut".

I know very soon people would be on this thread saying we don't have the right to interfere with their lives and it is their culture and their law but...

... what if they themselves don't really want it?

Maharat
That's just it.

People will reject things if they don't want them.

Even the women will reject it if we impose our way on them.

People prefer what they're familiar with even if it's very painful.

M,

Maybe the Saudis need someone to explain the history of Valentine's Day to them.

St Valentine was one, two or more heritics burned at the stake around 270 AD. Nothing else is know about him/them.

Geoffry Chauser started the picked up the name and added it to a work of fiction ( The .Parliament of Foules) From this work, the celebration began. Nothing of the celebrations relates to anything of the Roman or Roman Catholic era. It appears the Saudi Morals Squad is afraid of contaminating the purity of Ishlam with some Christian bullshit.

Strange, but true. The ban is silly.

israeli girl.

To any woman who takes for granted the right to live our lives without interference, to laugh and write at this site, to go where we please, a warning:

It wasn't there 50 years ago, and it could easily, easily, be taken away again.

good points. even US women do not really think of losing rights. but it could happen. it may be happening, if you follow the fights about getting 'Plan B.' as for Canada, the only neighborhood pharmacy has a sign "We do not carry Plan B."
