The Valentine Lodge was a unique ski lodge in the Rockies. Maintained on an obscure American Indian reservation, the owners were free to do just about anything there that they wanted. Those who had heard of the lodge knew of rumors about what went on there. Some said that the lodge had legalized prostitution. Others said that the magical nature of the place was the source of all the romantic stories that had come from there. Still others maintained that it was the meeting place of a cult with bizarre rituals. Naturally, the truth was somewhere in between all of those.
Logan Masters had recently found a job at the Valentine Lodge. He was a travelling musician and magician, but his talents had earned him an indefinite room and board at the lodge.
Tonight, he sat in the main lounge on a small dais. He was dressed in black jeans and a wine red sweater, his long curly hair pulled back into a ponytail and his facial hair groomed into a neat VanDyke goatee. His rugged features provided an interesting contrast to this image. He seemed the epitome of the noble savage.
Logan was perched on a stool with a bass guitar in his lap and a microphone before him as he crooned out an original tune of his for the lodge patrons as they milled about the lobby. Logan's unique voice had earned him the nickname Howling Coyote during a stay with some Navajo three years ago while he was passing through Nevada.
