The various state governors determine which institutions receive the vaccine and which group(s) will be administered the vaccine. Not the CDC, not the HHS secretary, and certainly not the president. Yet the press and the democrats are still blaming Trump for a "slow roll out" of the vaccine. Why do you think that is?

Less then 25% of the available vaccine has been administered to anyone. Why do you think that is? I can tell you why. The government is the very LEAST efficient means of delivery of ANYTHING!!!!! Without the top down intervention of the various governors ALL of that vaccine would have been administered by now.

I can also tell you that early on a lot of that vaccine was flushed down the toilet. Thousands of doses gone. The reason is alluded to in the article albeit not addressed in specificity. Many doses were thawed out in anticipation of the number of first responders and medical workers that were first on the list. But many of those first on the list people refused to take the vaccine. Once thawed out those vaccines have very short shelf lives so down the shitter they went.

So why weren't those doses administered to groups further down the list? Well, that's the whole point.........................they were further down the governments list.

That's over in this state anyway. Early on they just assumed that everyone was going to opt in so they thawed the vaccine on their schedule. When they realized that everyone wasn't opting in and had to flush a few hundred doses down the toilet they changed their policy to "by appointment only." So at least in this state the wastage is over. That's the good news. The bad news is that those further down the list still aren't getting vaccinated.

There is as much fear of the vaccine as there is of the virus itself and government,

From day one he should have been on the phone to governors, to Azar, demanding results, exposing the slackers, supporting the programme in every respect. He should have been giving encouragement, kicking ass where needed. It is not his role to do the job but it is his role to see that the job was done to lead the country.

Ultimately the President's role is about taking accountability and responsibility.

Some comparisons. So far the Brits have injected 1.5 million, the Israelis 13% of their population, the Germans about 550,000 and the French (whoops) 55,000.
The Brits much maligned NHS and the Israelis both realized they needed lots of people to do the injections, so they trained them before the drug was available. Many are armed forces members. The Brits have got more than 70,000 trained to give the shot.

Not much consolation to be battling for position with the French!

What there is is a lack of people willing to have the vaccine administered to them and these people are, for the most part, the medical staff themselves. One local hospital administrator decreed that if the staff didn't take the shot they'd be without a job. Then had to retract the decree when it he realized that they just couldn't continue operations with a 40% + reduction in staff.

Good Presidents Bel, real leaders do not hide behind excuses and say "that's not my job." "that is someone elses responsibility." They take responsibility, they embrace accountability, and they demand other people do their jobs down the line, doing everything in their power and influence to ensure subordinates and non subordinates (eg Governors).

The most fundamental problem with Donald Trump is that he has never accepted responsibility or accountability for anything unpleasant or difficult in his life. Example?

Your statement suggesting that their is no lack of medical people capable (and available) to administer the vaccine is obviously wrong - those guys are totally involved in keeping alive the people who already have the virus. They do not have the time.

The proof of the pudding is in the results; as of yesterday the Brits had jabbed 2.3 million and are scheduled to get past 3 million by tomorrow. The Israelis are now past 20%. Their 'armies' of trained jabbers have proved crucial. 'And the USA?
