Holy crap!!!

I just got my gas bill for the month. $92!! What the FUCK!?!?!

It's not like we used any more than last month, either. Last month's bill was $43.

I'm sorry to all you die-hard capitalists out there, but this is not acceptable! There must be a rate cap or else this entire country will be spiraling into the deep depths of a recession, and right soon!

Damn, I better go turn down the heat.

All the interest rate decreases in the world ain't gonna help this.

CRY ME A RIVER NANCE!

Heating Oil Bill (January) $286.45
Power Bill (January) $106.18

I'm movin to a hut on a beach in Costa Rica wanna come?

$339 here for gas and electricity. *sigh* The rent is almost cheaper. Almost.

christ on a bike thats a shit load of money for fuel.... how did things get so bad for you yanks...?...I always thought fuel was cheap for you guys.

My gas bill for December was $148, twice what it was last year.

Well, I'm just shocked! That's quite a jump in just one month. Last year at this time I could expect a bill that was $30 at the very highest, and that was with really cold weather and snow on the ground. This just sucks!

Ah for the heady days when Reagans Secretary of The Interior was around.

Wasn't it Al Haig? Strange days when he looks "green"

Time to start herding the polar bears, roping the musk oxen and netting the seals.

This has gotta' have George W. singin' the C&W classic

"North, to Alaska we're goin' north the rush is on...."

I wanna see Dubya astride a Musk Ox herdin' Walrus.

"Get along little doggies..... Colin tell me again why we can't jist nuke these sumbitchs"

LOL

I'm sure the midwest isn't unique. We had an extremely cold December, second coldest on record.

My December Gas bill was $90. The January bill was $200. My electric bill was less than $20 both months. Really thinking about adding an electric space heater.

We've actually all been bit by the greening up of the power industry. Many electric generators that formerly burned 'dirty' coal have converted to 'clean' gas over the past few years. Thus the demand for natural gas has increased tremendously.

My question is, when are we going to get serious about tapping the wind and sun for our electric energy????

I've got you all beat...I just got my friendly reminder that I owe $383.63.

I think there must be a window open somewhere!

What really sucks is that my feet are still freezing!

I just found out our gas bill is $400 (two households together), but still.

OMG $400 which company do y'all use???

I was using Energy America but found out they had the highest price per therm so I switched.

Here is a link to a page that can help you pick a different one, but I do not think this is all the companies that are available.

http://www.newton.org/gas.html

I know you are not in Newton but the prices are the same. They bill you per therm so you want to find one with a low rate per therm. I went with Scana even though they are not he lowest because I can earn points on my Delta Skymiles account with them.

I have PECO Energy and my gas/electric combined for the month of Dec was $380.00.

Tell me about it. My normal bill in winter for a smallish 2 bedroom apt is about $90, maybe $100 in a cold month but this last time it was nearly $200. 185 ish I think and some odd change but shit, I almost died. Still have to pay the rest of my tuition, don't know how the hell I'm going to do that oh well it always works itself out.

April, can I come live with you? lol.
My utility bill was 260.
200 gas, 60 electricity.

Of course last month I had 2 roommates who kept putting the heat on 90, and didn't know how to turn off lights.
Now that it's just me and the bf, I'm sure it will be much cheaper.

CANDLES CANDLES CANDLES!

January heating bill was $306.
December was $198
November was $98

Anyone wanna trade?
:)

I swear to God this country is headed into a downward spiral...

:p

$400 + over here. Our bill for Christmas was way cheaper. And that's when we burned lights around the house and inside from 5:00 till 10:00 but this month with less used were paying much more. And I'm not one of those who thinks that PG&E is going bankrupt and that's why the rates are high. I saw Erin Brockovich, thier a billion dollar company. Our raised rates are probably going to pay off thier lawsuits. I don't believe for one minute that their in that much need of money.

Either that or some fat cat in a $1000 suit is getting a big pay raise!

I'd just like to remind yah that ta heat up a house in Maine all winter (an' keep it all nice in warm) takes four bushels of wood. An' they're $100 a bushel! :O

*sighs* And this fool just told the Man that he couldn't rent the house from him anymore because it caught too much to heat. Idiots.

The good news is that in the midwest prices will start going down. We are on our own propane system and buy contracts when the price is low, so we avoided the squeeze all-together.
