gotta love this obama economy, this fucktard piece of shit has gotta go

The United States Postal Service defaulted today on a $5.5 billion payment to the United States Treasury, which was intended to cover the healthcare benefits of the organization's future retirees.

On July 30, the USPS issued a statement warning of the August 1 default, as well as a subsequent $5.6 billion payment that will not be made due. According to the statement, the USPS says there should not be any disruption of service.

Time for Change!
America, time to take the trash (obama) to the curb!

I love those in governemnt as their skills just don't add up

clearly, this is a prime example as to why democrats and government people should not be allowed to run any enterprise

Amtrak lost $800M on cheeseburgers and soda

Taxpayers lost $833 million over the last decade on the food and beverages supplied by Amtrak, which managed to spend $1.70 for every dollar that received in revenue.

“Over the last ten years, these losses have amounted to a staggering $833.8 million,” said Rep.John Mica, R-Fla., in a statement previewing a House hearing today. “It costs passengers $9.50 to buy a cheeseburger on Amtrak, but the cost to taxpayers is $16.15. Riders pay $2.00 for a Pepsi, but each of these sodas costs the U.S. Treasury $3.40.”

I'll bet if the mail service was turned over to...let's say...FedEx, first class mail would still be delivered in five days and still cost...what does a letter cost today, it's been so long since I used snail mail for letters?

Anyway...FedEx could maintain the same service/cost and still remain in the black.

And no more going postal jokes.

It amazes me how you conservatives are so willfully ignorant and make up myths such as the lazy middle class worker.

The reason the payment was default is due to congress. The 2006 congress to be exact. They passed a bill saying the post office had to fully fund the medical and retirement system for the next 75 years. Name me one business that has to do that.

The default will not effect service on any way because it wasn't a bill for services. Also the post office has greatly reduced its staff over the last ten years. If the military had to do what the post office had done it would be in shambles.

There is a huge difference in costs between the two. When I need overnight something, no way in hell will I use FedEx when they wish to charge between $39 -$75 and I can go to the post office and mail it overnight for $18.

FedEx would charge $6.90 for a stamp.

that is because you are a liberal and want others to pay your way in life.

I'm sure the actual costs for that package is well over $18, then again, usps is a government entity and I'm sure that they have no idea what the actual costs is. these are government people, and we know that they are not very smart

did you ever explain as to why you want others to pay for your mail?

I realize that your kind has no idea what the word "cost" means, and that a business has expenses as you and your kind are a consumer of Tax Dollars.

The only thing you care about, is paying less and having your neighbor support your blissful lifestyle
