Are there any rules about using books and screenplays of others? What I mean is say for example there is a series of books I like can I use the characters and setting if I citie the source. The reason I am curious is I was thinking of rewriting a series changing the direction of it while lending it an erotica bent. This would free me from having to build my own characters and setting while futhering my writing ability.

see the disclaimer that heads any celebrity story- that is the 'official' Lit position on parodies.

yeah the "fanfic" is legal...or at least allowed on this site. If anyone gets in trouble, it'll be Laurel...which isn't really a good thing or a bad thing...just fact.

I think it might technically be illegal, but like I said, allowed on this site...look at all the Harry Potter fiction floating around out there. One note though is that Literotica frowns on Fanfic staring underaged characters, even if they're aged to be 18. For instance Laurel recently removed harry potter stories since they involved technically underaged characters, even though in each story the character had been upped in age. Just keep that in mind if you want to post here = )
