What is the deal with using these tools? I am using one such tool and my story got rejected for that reason. Has anyone else faced similar problems?

Lots.

See the AH for a multitude of threads on using fakery while writing stories. Those tools leave detectable artifacts that can be quite similar, story to story, writer to writer. Lit is for ORIGINAL content. Your Own Words only.

From what I've seen, Grammarly's basic grammar and spelling check is perfectly fine. I don't use it myself, but plenty of writers do.

But if you start accepting Grammarly's more advanced sentence structure and vocabulary suggestions, you're just having AI make writing decisions for you.

It flattens out your writing to a vague, statistically averaged paste, which is both boring to read and easily detected by whatever AI detection tool Lit uses to screen submissions🙄

Considering how much time and effort people put into figuring out how far they can push their use of these tools, you'd think it would be easier just to look up the basic rules of grammar.
