The other day my Kindle locked me outta my books.

I sent Amazon a request for help. Amazon responded quickly but their remedy was useless.

What worked is this: I turned the Kindle OFF and pressed the ON/OFF button until the whole screen image was replaced by the "Kindle Tree" image. That is, the book ad went away, replaced by the tree.

I then pressed the ON button, and all was normal again.

On many devices if you press and hold the power button, they will shutdown no matter what is running. This works with desktops, laptops, tablets and phones. The powering up fresh seems to cure the ill program that was causing the problem.

Where were you when I needed you!
