Probably not. We just don't care. More people attend single high school American football games on a Friday night than the record crowd ever at a college soccer game. At the larger high schools anyway. In some areas. The south and Texas come to mind.

Soccer is fine sport. I probably would have been pretty good at it, but at the time very few schools had soccer teams outside of preppy private boarding 40 grand a year gated ivy playgrounds.

Our women are usually pretty good. I think it will take another 20 years for the USA men to even be respectable.

I have to admit that I don't do soccer! I honestly can't get excited about it, not even when Denmark play another country. So I know I'll be doing something else than be watching that for the next period of time ;)

They say the Brits will bet over a billion pounds on this thing before it's over. Someone is getting rich and it's not the people betting.

It's almost never the people betting that get rich! I don't know how much people will bet in Denmark, but I'm sure it's a fair amount as well.

I do, even if I don't understand the sport.

:D

what I don't get, is that practically every kid I know plays soccer for some sort of team, my kids did for a while. Wether it's school team, parks and rec, travel team, uber spendy team for rich kids...they all play.

But it still isn't a big sport here.

We're tied, holy shit. Can you believe that goal we got? What a fucking terrible fumble from the English goalie.

I'd consider a tie a win for the USA. Now we just need to beat the two third world fucks.

I can't believe we tied against England, what a lucky match. Thank god our goalie knows what he's doing. It could have been a bloodbath.

Lucky nothing. Robert Green merely needs his hands cut off and to be nailed to Wembley Stadium by his ears. This isn't the first time he's fucked up like that. Not that I'm overreacting, of course. Why, just outside he's being burned in effigy on a giant pyre.

...wait a tick, why is the dummy moving? Be right back.

I was cheering for the US actually, they've slowly been getting better and at this point should be considered competent. Disappointing match though.

England should have been cake, without whats his name they got a huge hole in their defense. Honestly I don't even know why they entered this year. How many fans did they have at the match, like 2.

But the US played exceptionally crappy, very boring game. US soccer has this cultural thing were they play very slow, and super conservative. As their confidence increased, at least in national games, they actually start doing shit, making moves, yet this match they were back to their lame old selves. Probably cause these players aren't use to playing with each other that much.

Still, US can still make it to stage 2, and that's were the action always picks up. If they keep playing like they did this time, they'll get crushed. If they take chances, and get a little luck, it'll be entertaining, and that's the whole point.

If lots of favourites win or England or Spain win the world cup, it'll be the people betting that will see the money bet on the world cup, not the bookmakers

All my laboring mommies had the game on...en español! Hilarious!

I concur!
Damn where have all the great Englant goalies gone? Bring Shilton out of retirement!! (showing my age now!)

According to a tweet I read, it seemed that the England strategy was to try and knock a hole through the USA goalie :D

I didn't watch the match, those horns are driving me mental

U-S-A! U-S-A! Lets win this tournament.

If for no other reason than to piss off the rest of the world by beating them at their own game... the one we don't give a fuck about.

Yeah, right. It totally sounds as if you Americans don't care at all.
