The US is overtaking Saudi Arabia to become the world’s largest producer of liquid petroleum, in a sign of how its booming oil production has reshaped the energy sector.

US production of oil and related liquids such as ethane and propane was neck-and-neck with Saudi Arabia in June and again in August at about 11.5m barrels a day, according to the International Energy Agency, the watchdog backed by rich countries.

With US production continuing to boom, its output is set to exceed Saudi Arabia’s this month or next for the first time since 1991.

If we use this wisely, it could be wonderful for the long term.

Don't count on Obama to use any fossil fuels wisely.

Actually, just the opposite, look for a crackdown from the EPA on fracking etc,

We could have created 100s of thousands jobs in the last 6 years leading the world in energy production.

We could have replaced the CNG that europe needs since Putin is raising hell in Ukraine.

Like I've said before, President Obama could personally cure cancer today, and you and your kind would be here tomorrow lamenting the loss of high-paying oncologist jobs that occurred during his administration.

The USA has always had some of the largest oil reserves in the world. However, the oil companies have not been allowed to exploit them because of environmentalists.,

You responded to the first post, but I don't think you actually read it.

Dopey, real dopey.

And OBama slacked them?

C'mon bull the lie that doesn't sound like a lie.

Yay, we lead the world in an outdated fuel source! Do we also lead in print media production?

All administrations want to highlight positive things that occur on their watch whether one can directly credit policy decisions or not.

All administrations want to minimize the emphasis on things that did poorly on their watch, whether a case can be made pointing to policy decisions or not.

This administration excels at taking credit and shifting blame.

It is really tough for the same people that support this administration and detest the last to claim all at the same time:

The last administration in particular and the tax code in general is heavily biased to helping evil big oil.

That any substantial changes (if any) enacted by the current administration somehow brought about more oil. Either it is more of the same (no credit) or less of the same with best case claiming they did no demonstrable harm.

It is pretty clearly understood that this administration has been hostile (to the delight of greenies) to drilling on public lands and chased rigs out of the gulf to foreign locations. You cannot argue those actions increased oil production.

Oil leases go back years. It takes a long time after oil is found to bring a well online and the permitting process is onerous. The increases not squelched by new burdens on paperwork is not something that makes sense to claim credit for. Did they enact some streamlining to the process that I have not heard about?

Most of the increase in production is due to innovation in the oil fields largely on private land. This is nothing that the government past or present had a hand in. This is technological innovation. Getting oil from hard to reach areas as efficiently as possible.

So, Rob's claim that Obama cured cancer is a little specious.

Agreed, lets look to the future. Breeder reactors.

Although, the worlds number one fuel source (Dinosaurs) is not yet "outdated." Not is it as depleted as was claimed in my youth. Fossil fuel is simply solar energy stored in the earth with carbon chains as the battery.

And youre holding your breath waiting for Obama to cure cancer. If you sent the man a tractor and chain he couldn't pull his head outta his ass.

I love those tv commercials touting the USA as Oil Producer.

Compared of course to drilling through Saudi sand, north american oil is harder to tap.

And speaking of taps, the Saudis just have to reach out of their tent and turn up the big valve if they wanted to pump more oil than the USA.

But why would they do that?

Good work, USA! Time to show that pesky Antarctic ice shelf who's boss! Now if you can only catch up on executions, human rights and the treatment of women, where Saudi Arabia remains a short neck ahead, you could really be building a nation to be proud of. Keep voting Tea Party and that brighter tomorrow could be yours.

Fucking Obama!

Just think...

With violence in the ME, the prices didn't spike as they normally would. One wonders where we would be if he had not closed off federal lands and opposed Keystone. So, yeah, fuck Obama for his artificial "tax" upon the Middle Class and the poorest among us. What the hell does he care about the price of fuel.

WE, the people, pick up the tab for that.

The Chief blames #ThatNegarPresident for all of the many shortcomings in his life.

Purchased any petrol in Europe lately? Prove that Keystone has any effect on the price of gas.

Obama would love to tax us out of our cars...

“I’m just going to be honest with you. There’s not much we can do next week or two weeks from now... If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know [laughingly], you might want to think about a trade-in.”
Barack Hussein Obama, the Green Pres__ent (with no id, uh…)
April 2011

And this is the same clown who thinks he can out-think the market when it comes to health care. He even admitted that he would throw his loved ones under the bus...

#AscriptionAgain. blah blah blah "Obama wants to..."

The Chief blames #ThatNegarPresident for all the shortcomings in his life.

And oh look, a #BlastFromTehPast! A swipe at Obamacare! Don't see much of those sorta swipes anymore....seems Murica is taking quite nicely to Obamacare. Whar is repeal, Chief?

I laugh at people who get eight miles to the gallon too. Now back to proving that Keystone affects our gas prices.

I think I just read that there will be about 200 more choices during the upcoming open enrollment for the failed health care plan.

Quite a failure, that Obamacare. Just like the fringe right wingers here said it would be.

So, you have proof that it does not affect prices by reducing supply?

Do you know why Warren Buffet went heavy into railroad stocks when Obama was elected? Well, when you have supply, you have to deliver that supply to the market. When you have to deliver it in tanker cars, that is not as efficient as delivering it through a pipeline. The Middle Class and the poor pay for inefficiency at the pump.

Warren Buffet does not want the pipeline anymore than do the watermelons.

Money talks.
