What other explanation could there be when the president bends over to grab his ankles every time someone says Russia?

I'm absolutely certain that the Russians regard trump as an asset and I believe that some very shady criminal business transactions with Russian interests will come to light that he will not be able pass the blame onto other family members.
But... I don't think he is actively working for Putin, following orders. Putin is smart enough to know that trump can't follow a script, that he'd trip himself up if he tried to play a deliberate role.
The Russians are just letting trump be himself. They are simply relying on trumps natural instincts to keep his shady dealings in Russia hidden, to do the job for them.
He's certainly achieving more in the last 3 years to undermine western alliances and destabilise USA democracy than all of the Russian spying and espionage has achieved since 1917.

Don't forget his latest stunt: stop supplying Ukraine with weapons to defend itself from Russia's invasion.

Of course there was the whole giving classified information to the Russian ambassador.

Having a secret meeting with Putin which no one, not even his intelligence chiefs, knew about or to this day know what was said.

His defense of Russia deliberately bombing hospitals and civilians in Syria. "You think we don't do the same thing?"

His whining when Congress forced him into signing a sanctions bill against Russia. "This is so unfair to treat Russia like this."

Or that one of his first acts was to try and lift sanctions put in place against Russia by Obama.

The list goes on. And yet, Republicans shrug their shoulders and play along.

And also, jaFO, I don't think 'current' spies is really accurate. Anyone who was part of that Borg Empire of which Browder was merely PART, along with Bain & Co and a few others - are on the run (literally not going into the office/'gone dark') or dead in the same bin Andrew Breitbart was found in; after the 'accident' that Lee Stranahan keeps saying was most probably just an accident.
