US forces took down Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria — could be Trump’s ‘very big’ news

“The United States military has conducted a special operations raid targeting one of its most high-value targets, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Newsweek has learned. President Donald Trump approved the mission nearly a week before it took place,” Newsweek reported Saturday.

“On Saturday night, after the operation had concluded, President Trump tweeted: Something very big has just happened!’ The White House announced later that the president will make a “major statement” Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.” Newsweek noted.

Finally!:)

They say LeDon says it's 'confirmed', but we've heard that before, and we've learned not to believe OrangeSpeak.

Trump says he told Russia of ISIS raid, but not Pelosi and Schiff because ‘Washington is a leaking machine’

During a press conference on Sunday, President Donald Trump congratulated himself after the U.S. military reportedly killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Speaking from the White House, Trump insisted that he had been on the trail of the ISIS leader since his first day in office.

“I would say, where is Baghdadi?” Trump explained.

Trump suggested that House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) were not told because of potential leaks.

“We have notified some and others are being notified now as I speak,” Trump told the press. “We were going to notify them last night but we decided not to do that because Washington leaks like I’ve never seen before. There is nothing — there is no country in the world that leaks like we do.”

Leaks to who to what assumed effect, since the Russian's were already told? Presumably Trump doesn't want the American people to know what he tells his spy master, Putin.

France says Baghdadi's death is not end of Islamic State

Of course not. He's like their second or third since inception.

And of course DingDongDon is acting 'presidential' in his messages.

Russian military questions US account of raid that killed ISIS leader
CNN|2 hours ago
The Russian military on Sunday questioned the official US account of the military raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, saying it was not aware of any US military operations in the region. In a statement, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said the Russian military "does not have reliable ...

Random Question: How many on this board are hoping Al Baghdadi is actually alive....just because it would look bad for Trump?

You can ask the same question of those who said the same thing when it was announced bin Laden was killed. There are those who still insist he's alive because we've never shown the body.

Will the same apply here?

Well with the Baghdaddy gone, it's time for the next inline to step up. I'll bet the ISIS guys are all pointing fingers to appoint the next Wack-a-Muslum.:)

I doubt that Trump golfs in a suit, so he took time to pretty up for the photo.

Folks were saying the same thing about Obama after the raid on bin Laden. In his case, he looked it.

US officials say ‘risky’ ISIS raid ‘happened largely in spite of President Trump’s actions’

According to a report from the New York Times, Donald Trump’s claim of being behind the military incursion to collect ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was more than an overstatement and that he made the long-planned operation more difficult because of his impulsive decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria.

“Trump’s abrupt decision to withdraw American forces from northern Syria disrupted the meticulous planning and forced Pentagon officials to press ahead with a risky, night raid before their ability to control troops and spies and reconnaissance aircraft disappeared, according to military, intelligence and counterterrorism officials. Mr. al-Baghdadi’s death, they said, occurred largely in spite of Mr. Trump’s actions,” the Times reports.

This runs contrary to the president’s claim on Sunday morning that he has been focused on tracking down the leader for years while stating he has constantly been asking about the whereabouts of the Islamic terrorist since he came into office.

That sounds more like the Trumpster!

I read he blew himself to pieces with a suicide jacket before he could be killed or captured.

The Whimpering Pussy Al-Baghdadi took 3 Children with him.

Pelosi was not told about the operation in fear of LEAKS! Adam Shiff Style!

OBAMA: "Guys, our top priority is killing Bin Laden. Find him at all costs and get rid of him.

MILITARY: "On it, Sir."

Our military finds and kills Bin Laden.

OBAMA: This is an important moment in history. I'm proud of our troops."

REPUBLICANS: "Obama didn't kill Bin Laden! The SEALS did, and it was President Bush who did all the work! Obama just happened to be in office when it happened!"

TRUMP: "We're leaving Syria. The Kurds are on their own."

MILITARY: "But sir, we believe there are important targets in Syria. We CAN'T leave there!"

TRUMP: "WE'RE LEAVING SYRIA! It's what Puti...it's what I want. The troops must withdraw now."

Trump withdraws our troops without notifying Congress and abandons our Kurdish allies to be slaughtered, and giving ISIS a big win.

MILITARY: "Listen you idiot. We didn't want to tell you this because you suck at keeping secrets, but we think we found Baghdadi in Syria. We can't pull out now; we are months' deep into this operation to kill him."

TRUMP: "Fix this for me."

MILITARY: "Just send us back in and say that we're guarding an oil field."

Our military kills Baghdadi.

TRUMP: "I'm pretty great. I'm way more impressive than Obama. Just look at all my accomplishments. And killing Baghdadi is way more important than killing Bin Laden. Which I did. I killed him, because I'm great."

One of my biggest takeaways from Trump's announcement was when Trump said the U.S. military and our allies would kill terrorist leaders, but they were always names Trump "had never heard of".

Why had Trump "never heard of" the names of other terrorists leaders? Those names were listed in his daily intelligence briefings! Reading those intelligence briefings IS PART OF TRUMP'S JOB!!!

We should have left back when Obama promised to.

We should still gtfo.
