I know who won the second for the U.S., but I'M NOT SAYING. :D

Have to watch it for yourself later tonight.

Not to be picky, but who won the gold and bronze?

The Olympics is supposed to be a celebration of competition for competitions sake, not a chance to shout, "we're better than you are" -- especially when it's obvious that someone was better than the USA in this case. ;)

Gold was won by Jochem Uytdehaage - Netherlands
Silver - Derek Parra - US
Bronze - Jens Boden - Germany

Kudos to all...

Really wish I had another channel to watch. NBC really isn't cutting it. Again.

Actually, the impetus for the post was that neither of the medals the US won today were expected. In both cases, it was the winners' first Olympics (Shannon Bahrke (?) is only 21, and Derek Parra set a world record (which was then broken by Uytdehaage - wow!).

Plus, the USOC has lost its mind - its set a goal of 20 medals for the team these games, when the all time high for the US is 12.

# of medals....

Wrong......highest number of medals for US in a Winter
Olympics is 13.

The games just started.....give 'em a chance.....got til
the 24th, then you can give NBC a "grade".......

Personally, other than some minor tech sound problems,
I think NBC is doing a good job so far.......

They've already earned an F- from me for caving in to the soap queens and tape delaying sports events that ARE IN MY TIME ZONE!

I I want to watch tape delayed spots, I'll tune to Sportcenter on ESPN and watch just the good parts.

I wish there were tape delayed events here. At least then I could watch like everybody else. But we only got a couple of hours worth today, and then the basketball pro game or whatever.

Can't even get Eurosport. Nothing. Just fucking AFN.

that's strange!

Harold,
That is strange that they don't broadcast the events
as they happen where you're at......esp. you're right
next door to Utah!

But let's hear some positive stuff.....what did you think
of the opening ceremonies and the first day of events
(if you did get to see 'em!)?

NBC and a rating...

They have promised 375 or so hours of competition.

With all the resources at their fingertips to cover all the sports taking part at the same time, why can't they roll live action and either multi channel it or work out a schedule that has some live times with recorded.

I am kind of sorry that the NBA channels did not get it, as they at least have enough channels already available on cable, to show a different sport on each channel.

I had a friend who went to the ski jumping, I would have enjoyed seeing the same competition at the same time they did, instead I had to wait till 9:00 at night to get a chance to watch it. Even though it had been announced on the news who had taken the medals at 1:30.

So I too am sorry that NBC got it as I rate them below par.

Ezzy....

CNBC and MSNBC are carrying some coverage.....don't know the times though...I know a lot of the hockey games are going to be
covered there.....best thing to do is check your local tv listings,
also check www.nbcolympics.com for up to the min coverage...that's how i found out yesterday we got our 1st Gold
medal even before i watched the event!

go figure
