Uplifting authors?

I've been hanging around Lit for several years and most of what I find are serious downers.

Are there any upbeat, positive writers on Lit? If so please let me know.

I don't mean the typical author who occasionally mixes the rare good humor in with the rest of his/her works. They do good entertaining work, but most of it can bring a reader down.

I'm looking for authors that primarily write positive stories, ones where their protagonists have respect for their characters, and there is a sense of fun in the stories.

Humor & Satire have a lot of fun to read stuff, but I am looking for fun and humor in other categories as well.
