IC THREAD

So the point of this thread is not to have an action-packed heroic war epic, it’s meant to be much more subtle. I’d like it so the characters are civilian though I won’t rule out people who want to play soldiers. So long as you have a good reason for your character showing up in Alleyne. I am hoping to have a small band of characters join together to survive the winter and occasionally German forces. Though really focus on the characters more than anything, since much of the thread will be interaction between characters feel free to make elaborate histories for your application. PM me with any questions I’m sure I’m being more vague and less to the point than I mean to be so feel free to contact me and we can discuss characters, the concept or anything. Please Post your application in the OOC thread and wait for approval before posting. Not that I’m gonna be picky about who I let in, so long as your posts are not consistently short and please spell check. Thank you :)

Name: Miranda Speirs
D.O.B: October 9th, 1918
Nationality: Canadian/Belgian
Height/Weight: 5’7”, 120 lbs
Eye Colour: Green
Hair: Brown
Occupation: Triage nurse
Appearance: Fairly tall and curvy but lean frame, her skin is on the pale side and smooth to the touch save for her hands which have grown rough from the work she’s done as a nurse. She has several small almost unnoticeable scars scattered across her body time doing it’s best to fade them.

War Wounds: Has a entry and exit wound in her lower abdomen the entry on her right side, lower back above her hips. The exit almost central near her navel. A small gash on her forehead just above her right ear and stemming up along her hair line.

History: Born and raised in Canada Miranda is the daughter of a Belgian father and Canadian mother. Her father moved with his family to Canada in the early 1920s and Miranda spent her youth and teen years there before impending war loomed and her parents, both MD’s heeded the call of duty and moved back to Europe in 1936. At the time of them moving Miranda was just finishing her fourth year of medical school but cut her education short to stay with her family.

In 1938 she met and got engaged to a Belgian man named Nicholas who was a soldier in the Belgian army. They were parted in 1940 when German forces invaded Belgium, Nicholas left the small town of Alleyne to go fight in Luxembourg leaving Miranda in the relative safety of the town. For the first month he would send letters back to her but after that she heard nothing of him. German forces had succeeded in their task, though the war in Belgium was not over yet it was just a matter of cleaning out the last pockets of resistance. A small retreating Belgian force had lured the German army to Alleyne where a short battle occurred in the town and it was during that battle Miranda was shot. In the following days there were heavy artillery strikes that leveled most of the town. Since she had been alone recovering in one of the houses on the eastern outskirts she could do nothing but listen to the explosion and squeaky screams of collapsing houses while panic and fear gripped the voices of the townspeople. Then there was nothing, no artillery, no more fear. German voices and tanks passing through town was the only sound she heard for days and days until she could move enough to peak out the window. The town was decimated and she was alone.

Name: Lumanitsa Sinta
D.O.B: December 14th 1922
Nationailty: Romani (gypsy)
Height/Weight: 5’5”, 115 lbs
Eye Colour: Green
Hair: Black
Occupation: none
Appearance: A lean frame, made more skinny by weeks of infrequent meals. She has swarthy skin. Her shoulder length hair, once straight and silky, is a tangled mess these days.

War Wounds: A knife wound on her left cheek, from a German sniper who tried to rape her. She has patched it up as best can from a first aid kit she salvaged.

History: Lumanitsa was born in Romania, but her family moved west when she was eight years old. Her family's caravan settled for several years in Northern France, where they made money as traders, entertainers and other services in the communities they visited.

When Germany invaded France, Lumanitsa's family caravan was captured by an SS squad, designated to eliminate undesirables. The only thing that saved her from being killed by the firing squad with the rest of her family was an SS sniper, who wanted to sate his lust on the girl before executing her. He took her a good distance into the woods, pressing a combat knife to her cheek to coerce her. While he was using one hand to undo his belt, She took a stiletto she had hidden in her clothes and stabbed him in the throat. The dying man slashed her face, but she was still alive.

Since then, she has traveled in the wake of the German army, scavenging what food and supplies she can from the wreckage they leave behind. She has used the dead German's sniper rifle to kill animals, but only sparingly, because she has no extra ammunition. Recently she has made it to Alleyne, Belgium. She has been terribly lonely since the murder of her clan, but finds it hard trusting others, knowing that many would sell her to the Nazis for safety.

Jason Dawkins

Name: Jason Dawkins
D.O.B: September 12, 1916
Nationality: American
Height: 6’ 0
Weight: 185 lbs
Eye Color: Brown
Hair: Sandy Brown
Occupation: Pilot, Martin B-26 Marauder

Appearance: Jason Dawkins is a Midwestern farm boy, through and through. He has the broad shoulders and toned frame of a man who worked on a farm through his youth and whose body was honed by the Army as an adult.

War Wounds: Having only flown six missions so far in the war, Dawkins has been lucky in avoiding injury. His medium bomber has been hit by flak and survived a run in with a single BF-109 fighter, yet he has remained unscathed.

History: Born and raised in the cornfields of Kansas, Dawkins always had a fascination with aircraft. His attention first came to them when he watched the barnstormers and air shows that traveled the country following the Great War. His excitement only grew as he followed the news of Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart and their accomplishments. He knew he had to fly, but his family did not have the fortunes that allowed others to pursue the dream of flight. The armed forces were the only way he would ever be able to know the feeling of flight, and he worked hard to ensure he would succeed.

When he was 18, he joined the Army Air Corps and immediately found himself at home behind the yolk of a Martin B-20 medium bomber. The smallish craft felt like a natural extension of his body and he rose quickly to prominence as one of the best pilots in his unit. When the newer and more advanced Douglas B-26 Marauder came into service, Dawkins knew he had to be at the controls of the new airframe, even if they would be serving at the front lines of the escalating war in Europe.

His request for transfer was granted, and he soon found himself stationed in England, one of the new craft at his control. The “Stray Dog” and her crew of seven were preparing to depart in on their seventh mission, to support of the US forces working to halt the Germans advance in the Ardennes Mountains of Belgium.

(If things look good, I'll work up a intro post in the IC thread that will have me end up in Alleyne, Belgium)

Looks fine to me :) welcome aboard. Feel free to post I'm gonna try to get caught up shortly.

Name: Jennifer Ashington
D.O.B: June 10, 1917
Nationality: British
Height: 5’ 2
Weight: 88 lbs
Eye Color: Sea Green
Hair: Strawberry Blonde
Occupation: Reporter.

Appearance: Having allways been short and rather lean, without many curves, Jennifer now appears to be even skinnier, with the onset of the war and food becoming scarce. Her fingers are long and thin, and from the way they frequently seem to twiddle small objects between them (notably her pen), they seem fairly nimble. Her skin is on the slightly paler side, with freckles on her cheeks.

War Wounds: Scars from shrapnel on her left rib, bruising between her thighs.

History: Born and raised in Leatherhead, Surrey, Jennifer had allways been an upholder and staunch believer in the truth, much to the pride of her parents. Eventually, she went to college, where she studied Journalism. After graduation, she became a reporter for the Times, and worked her way up to be stationed in Belgium, as their go-to-girl.

However, with the war erupting, everything changed. Instead of writing of the truth she respected and cherished, she was forced to write pro-Allies propaganda, and quickly became disillusioned with the Allied war-effort. In a last-ditch-effort to revive her journalistic spirit, Jennifer stole a truck and made her way towards the front, but eventually drove over anti-personell mines, laid on the road.

While she survived, with only a few minor wounds to speak of, her transportation was totalled. And now, stuck on her own in the Belgian cuntryside, the reporter heads for the one town she knows to be nearby on her map: Alleyne.

(If there are any problems, let me know~!)

Name: Rick "Tank" Tomaz
Title: Demo Expert/Civilian Engineer
Age: 22
Height: 6"5'
Weight: 240
Color: Deep tanned white
Country: American
Description: A tall strong muscular bound man Tank was recruited by the American army only 28 days ago. Recruited for his expert abilities in anything explosive or mechanical he was thrown in with the First Armored Division as a tank tech. Nicknamed Tank for his uncanny ability to repair the mechanical beast which he traveled in, Rick was also a first rate marksmen and explosives expert. Amoung his army issued pistal and bolt action Springfield he carried several C-4 blocks and a satchel of various tools.

Wounds:Large gash in left leg from tank shrapnel

Backround: His division being the spearhead of the american invasion force in the past three weeks they had traveled well beyond enemy lines. They had expected the second division, which was holding their rear, to hold a little longer then the nearly three weeks they did. They had gotten news only a few days before that they were on their own, when their relay scout never returned, confirming the rounds of massive explosions they had heard the day before his departure. Pushing on they had encountered heavy resistance and dug in for a long battle. The six tanks in their division set up for a four point attack in hopes of holding for renforcements. But that was yesterday... the germans had over run them after a massive two point artillery strike destroying all but two of the tanks. The scorched earth had been littered with strapnel and burning tank tracks when the first infantry advanced on their position. Ricks tank crew and the only other tank remaining held their own for hours before german rockets tore through both armored vehicles. Only Tank and one other soldier had managed to survived the twisted wreckage. But that was yesterday.... before the infection set in. Now only Tank remained deep behind enemy lines. The germans expecting no one to survive the violent explosions that tore the tanks apart had backed off victorious.

I think you will be the last one I let in for now. Could I get a roll call to see who is still interested in continuing with the thread?

Honestly I think the stories kinda dead in the water. I'm not sure I'll be continuing with it.
