In and out of The Eagle,
That's the way the money goes,
POP! Goes the weasel!

Just rambling....
Sat morning....
The weekend awaits....

:D

I don't know what the weasel is , but I think "Ring a Ring of Roses" is about the plague , isn't it ?

But

Do you know what the weasel is?.

Copied from Yahoo:

"Some argue that to pop the weasel is also cockney slang meaning to pawn one's coat. This makes sense in light of the second verse of the kids' version: "A penny for a spool of thread / A penny for a needle / That's the way the money goes," etc."

:p

Listen to Anthony Newley's version.

A weasel was something tailors used, hence the reference to
spools and thread.
Popping the weasel was pawning it.

That's wot I said innit!

I liked Anthony Newley version and it's still the one that springs easiest to my mind...

"Why does the weasel go pop...go pop..pop goes the weasel..."

There's a church in Deptford, London which has one of the largest mass graves for victims of the plague ever recorded. The two stone pillars which guard the entrance to the church are topped by two large, stone skulls.

Not your usual goodness and light welcome.

That entrance has been used in many a horror movie...
