A strange modification by the powers that be to my submision that came live today.

The description field has been changed from:

Oh boy have I been fucked!

It now shows:

Oh boy, has he been fucked!

This completly chages the meaning, I wonder if anyone else had had a similar
experiance?

I am sure of my orginal as I copy and paste that field

Finally, a word about formatting and conventions in the description. The description will be written as a sentence with capitals and punctuation accordingly. Ellipses Marks (. . .) are usually removed. Dashes are usually removed as well since a comma or semi-colon will have the same meaning with less space. Generally, descriptions such as "A young woman" will be changed to "she."

For example, if you submit the description as "A young woman meets the man of her dreams." it will be changed to "She meets the man of her dreams." Additionally, if your story is written in second person (where you write to "you"), the description will be written to reflect that. For example, if you have a second person story and you submit it with a description like "She gives him a sensual massage" it will usually be changed to "She gives you a sensual massage."

The above is from the submissions FAQ, it's about as close as I got to figuring out why that might have been changed. Is the story written in first or third person?

It happened to me as well, though I didn't mind it. Two of my stories were written in the first person sense ("I'd do this to you") and the editors changed the description accordingly.

Thanks for very prompt reply

Thank Jen,

I think your explanation works but completely the wrong interpretation on Lits. part.

I was not meaning that “I” had been fucked, it was a quote from my wife taken from the text “Oh boy have I been fucked!”

Any idea if a message to Lit would get it changed, no point in resubmitting, but it does look wrong?

I don't know if that would work. You could try, but there's obviously no guarantee that they will be convinced, especially if you can't really tell that it's a quote.

Maybe change the description entirely?

Thanks again for prompt reply

Don't think I will bother, Lit have enough shit to deal with. I think I will make do with a public comment if anyone but me does care.

Was there a policy change regarding profanity in the description field in the past couple years? My very first submission a couple years ago had the word "fucks" changed to "screws" in that field.

That's odd. I haven't heard of that ever happening before. I couldn't tell you how it happened, but then again, I don't know what the policies were a couple of years back.

To fuck or screw

Just had a wander through the eight 'new' pages, and found 'fuck' in ten descriptions - obviously no problem
