Unusual for a male to shave genitals

Is it unusual for a male to want to completely shave his genital area? I dont mean just the ball sack but the whole groin area. I did this a while back but did not do it right so a got a few minor cuts so I let it grow back in and now im thinking of doing it again. I liked the fell of the smoth sking but could not stand getting those small cuts.

Whats the best way to go about it?

One of my responsibilities to my Master is to shave his balls and groin area regularly. When i begin the job, i always insure that i have these at hand:
(1) a sharp, clean razor
(2) a warm, wet washcloth
(3) a can of some shaving lotion specifically for delicate skin OR a brand of very gentle bar soap (like Dove)
(4) a towel to wipe away soap and hair and water as i work
(5) a cup partway filled with water in which to rinse the razor blade.

The very best way to go about this is to have someone do it for you while you're lying on your back on a bed or sofa.

If you don't have that option, you might begin the job yourself by trimming your pubes with small scissors so they don't gunk up your razor. After that, start the actual shaving way back at the base of your balls and work forward. You'll have to squeeze sections of your balls to tighten them up while you work to insure you won't be left with stubble. Try to shave against the direction your hair grows, if you can ascertain that. A new and sharp razor blade will go a long way toward a good, smooth shave.

Unusual?--Not in my experience--I'm a male (40s) and I've
been completely smooth for the past few years and I'd never
go back--I might also include that as a nudist, I've noticed
that more and more men are opting for the smooth look, at
least that's the case at the club I belong to--

The key is to shave regularly not only to keep smooth, of course, but to also get your skin conditioned to the shaving--

I have had my wife smooth for years now and thought I would try it myself......I mean fair is fair If I like her bald then maybe she would like me bald.
