The story "A Few Hours Left To Live" by justahack has received almost 3000 views in 3 days. That's more than most stories get in a month.

The story is closed and hasn't had any updates for over a week. What's going on?

I don't know, but it has more than doubled its total number of views during those three days.
And it goes up every five minutes or so (2992 at 14:07, 2993 at 14:14).
Weird...

Stupid

It is just someone who is having fun jacking up their views by somehow going into the story over and over. It is just mental masturbation probably, which just goes to show there is nothing so meaningless that someone will not try to cheat at it.

Probably, and if it's so, it's poorly carried out mental masturbation as well.

(Emphasis mine)

Look at his name. Add two letters and you have 'justahacker'.

This person actually did this legit. He posted his story on another site. That's why the flood has slowed to a trickle. Maybe some of those people will stick around. I'd certainly like to increase the readership/writership by a good 1000 pairs of eyes and hands.

::Edited:: And by hands, I mean WRITING STORIES! :D

BTW, any thoughts on doing this kind of promotion on various other relevant fora, with the idea of getting more readers and writers?

He didn't say.

BTW, I posted it on Live Journal, in most of the sex fiction communities.

A word of warning to those who choose to promote their stories: be very discerning when choosing a forum, as some people aren't quite so tolerant of CHYOO.

I posted on a V:TM forum, here, to promote Vampire Fledgling, thinking that it would generate some interest, but alas, I got good and flamed. Last time I ever try that.

Very true. I posted a message to some erotica communities on livejournal.com, so I knew I'd get a good reception. I would stick to erotica or writing groups, and not genre groups.

You really did get flammed. Those people have no taste. I really like the comments the one guy made... and I noticed he had a qoute from Jay and Silent Bob in his Sig. HAHAHA. Talk about not having taste.

People who don't come here, can't understand our stries. If you wrote about longing gazes and holding hands your story would drop quicker than the main character's pants in the other stories. You know!

It drives me nuts, though. I understand that writing erotica is not to everyone's taste, but bloody hell, some people are just so intolerant. Bloody conservative types.

I know, I tried to promote some of my stuff at the local church...and they chased me all the way home with pitchforks!

Only joking, I'm not that crazy.......... :p :nana: :p

I usually advertise it on my adult yahoo groups. I've never actually directly advertised any of my stories, just the main site. I guess I've always seen my stuff as too niche to be popular in general grouping and haven't found very many groups of matching niche.

I just do my part in regards to the whole community and hope for some trickle down.

When I put Chyoo on LJ, I just advertised the main site, not my stories, as well.
