I created thousands of radio commercials over the years, wrote the copy, voiced the ad and dubbed the music and have a small appreciation for well done commercials.
United Airlines uses Gershwin’s 1924 Piano Concerto in F, Rhapsody in Blue in several commercials and the advertising agency they use continues to do absolutely fantastic work in the creation of these classic commercials.
The latest one, in my opinion, is the best yet, using my favorite art genre, Impressionism, merging soft and flowing pastels, blurred and transitory images that segue from a Monet sense into a more flagrant Gauguin, Van Gogh garishness with motion and bright colors.
And the visuals are well meshed with the music in tone and movement, just a lovely, lovely work of art.
One feels compelled to acknowledge excellence wherever one finds it.
