Do you have a good story to tell about how you proposed, or were proposed to?

I was living with my finace at the time I proposed. She was the VERY modest type. Sex always had to be lights out, she didn't like to be seen in the nude by anyone. She was even uncomfortable changing clothes in front of me.

I got the ring and came up with a good plan for proposing that would play right into her hang up about being seen like that. I went to Fredericks of Hollywood and got one of their boxes. (Not an easy task either. It took me about 10 minutes to talk them into letting me have a box). I took one of my ratty old t-shirts and put it in the box, set the ring on top of the t-shirt and put the top on the box.

Later that evening I handed her the box and said "Here, I want you to wear this tonight". She had this horrified look on her face due to the prospect of me wanting her to wear something from Fredericks for me. She sat there for a few seconds then slowly opened the box. Upon opening the box, she didn't notice the ring on top, all she saw was the old t-shirt. The look changed from horror to confusion in an instant. With confusion dominating her thoughts, she lifted the shirt out of the box. As she lifted the shirt, the ring fell on to her lap. When she picked the ring up, she got what was going on and started to cry.

It was a pretty cool moment. I've always been a bit proud of the unique method of proposal that I came up with.

My first husband and I were kidding around one day, and he bet me that if/when he ever asked me to marry him, that I'd say no. Six months later, he asked if I remembered the bet. Before he could say anything else, I jumped right in there with "You lose!"

We were married a year later.

I did mine with a poem on here named 'Destiny' LOL

Kewl thread ;-)

My daughter proposed to her boyfriend when she was 14 and he was 17.
They had known each other most of their lives, and my daughter decided long ago that he was the one.
The day before he left for Marine basic training, she walked up to him and said, "When you finish your first tour of duty, and graduate from Officer Candidate School, we'll get married."
4 days after he graduated from OCS, they were indeed married, and now have 2 kids with one on the way.
