Many people on this board tell me it’s ‘Just a porn board’.

Well, I have news for you: Literotica isn’t just a porn board. Literotica isn’t even mainly a porn board.

Literotica is a board where intelligent adults come to have discussions with those over the age of eighteen - and when I say ‘over eighteen’ I mean physically, socially and intellectually.

Perhaps I’ve lived with lavender for too long and gained some ‘bitchiness’ but my version of over eighteen seems to be vastly different than several posters to this board. I have no right to make demands of the board and if I did it wouldn’t work but I’m tired.

Of what?

I’m tired of struggling to read someone’s post because they refuse to use anything close to proper spelling or grammar or formatting or punctuation or capitalization. We all make mistakes and I don’t want perfect English, I just want to be able to read your posts easily.

I’m tired of the nasty comments being lobbed at one another on the board. If I dislike someone I ignore them, I don’t chase them around the board in an attempt to show the board how big of an asshole I can be.

I’m tired of hot tempers. I’ve seen several fights brake out in the last two months over nothing. I don’t want to sound sexist but several women on this board are so constantly immersed in the virtual equivalent of pissing contests I’m surprised that Lit hasn’t been swept away by the undertow. I mean, get a grip, get a sensa humor, get some drugs, get laid - just stop taking everything as an insult.

Mostly, I’m tired of what passes as conversation in many of these threads. For the past year I’ve come to Literotica to escape the stupidity of my environment, to escape the petty and boring - not to indulge in them. For the most part posters here are creative, humorous and intelligent, unfortunately, it’s not always easy to figure that out. Come on people, our high tolerance for morons needs to end. I’m tired of scrolling through pages of what appears to be the written equivalent of lucid belching.

You know I’m right; I’m not the only one commenting on it. Just consider this meaningless rant on this meaningless thread one posters way of registering her complaint.

Somebody today posted to one of my threads telling me he came to the board to relax because it was a "porn board".

I felt like posting back along the lines you have.

I didn't because I can't be bothered to be drawn into nonsensical teenage arguments which end up (usually) with them writing one word abuse posts at me or disappearing altogether.

So thanks for saying it for me...

It never occured to me that people would think of this General board as a 'porn' board. If that was the case then why aren't ALL of the threads about sex?

I enjoy coming here because it is one place where I can have an adult conversation (well thats the plan anyway) about almost anything, if sex is mentioned, so be it; its still not a porn board. We as 'mature' adults are capable of discussing other things in life too.

Those that come here just for porn are cheating themselves of some good entertainment, friendships, and knowledge.

It's a Community

From my limited observation, the Literotica board has all the manifestations of a typical community. As such we will witness fashions come and go, cliques form and then break apart and individuals gain and lose respect of their fellow community members; all in the ebb and flow of what passes as ‘community’ life..

Some members of the community prefer to keep a low profile and only speak up on matters that are personally important to them while others will chase their tails to make an appearance on every possible thread.

The loudest and most strident of postings does not equal intellectual capacity but there is intelligence here but as in any other community, you have to search for it and along the way, you are going to stumble over some amusing and unamusing fools.

That's why I come here.

As for the education - that's why women should have never been allowed into colleges, tricks 'em into thinking their thoughts mean something.

Rubyfruit, posts do not annoy me. Trends do. The only way for me to ignore a trend is to lop off part of my frontal lobe and I won't do that.. it's hard to type on the keyboard when you're drooling all over it.

Never made good points at the start of this thread but I think she forgot to think of those who don't have her mental capacity. Everyone has her or his own level and because of that we will have the dross forever.

We all have different moods too. What you think is rubbish today, may tickle your fancy tommorrow.

It's this great mish mash of posts and threads that make us come here every time.

I was going to reply with something along the lines of, this board is for everyone and everybody has the right to free speech.
But looking over the threads I've noticed that there are a lot of threads based on puff, and therefore containing puff.

I still believe that everyone has the right to say what they want, and we can react however we like. Maybe the thread starters should think about what kind of answers they're looking to get in the first place before they even post.

I.E- Who Likes Snicker Bars??

I enjoy the fun stuff on the boards. I don't think I would ever come back if they tried to pass a law on what we post. I would be bored out of my mind if I only saw posts on politics, religion, etc...

I'm also not a big fan of people posting their personal affairs on the board. For a few reasons:
1. I don't care.
2. If I wanted to hear this stuff I'd watch talk shows.
3. That's what pm's are for.
4. I think it's pretty vain to think that the 200+ posters that visit here would even show mild interest.
5. It makes all parties involved look immature and frivolous. It is not *publicity* and it does not make me think any better of them.

This board is mainly entertainment, to me. I guess you can make it whatever serves your purposes best.
