Mayor Bloomberg gets help in fucking over the 99% from his Republican girlfriend
Mayor Bloomberg’s Girlfriend Diana Taylor Threatens to Resign From Sotheby’s Board If Teamsters’ Demands Are Met
(Diana Taylor's words to a discarded Union worker who invaded a Sotheby’s meeting in order to confront her lies and deception
used against the art handlers in negotiations and the media-)
{and guess who supported all her lies and deceptions? That is right, FOX TV}
"I have one thing to say to you. I have had one conversation with [Sotheby's President] Bill Ruprecht about this, and
I told him that if he accedes to any of your demands, I will resign from the board," she said. "That's all I have to say."

Diana Taylor tells Teamsters how she really feels about the 99%

“We are shocked at Taylor’s blatant disregard for working New Yorkers and their families,” said Teamsters Local 814
President Jason Ide. “She must be acting out her boyfriend’s grudge against Occupy Wall Street by emboldening the
one-tenth of the one percent against the 99 percent who just want to work to feed their families.
“As a director of Sotheby’s, her reaction to contract negotiations with 43 art handlers is irrational and extreme. Living
with Mike Bloomberg has clearly turned Taylor into an elitist with callous disregard for working families.
Diana Taylor hates Occupy Wall Street
November 22, 2011
Last Friday, OWS joined a protest called by Teamsters Local 814 at Brookfield Properties, which owns Liberty Square
(a/k/a Zuccotti Park). They targeted Diana Taylor in particular since she is the domestic partner of billionaire Mayor
Bloomberg and serves on the Board of Directors of Brookfield, as well as Sotheby’s Auction House, which has
locked out IBT-represented art handlers.
In 2010 Sotheby's earned 680 million dollars in profit. The company's 2nd most profitable year, ever. Sales increased
by 74 percent to $4.8 billion. 2012 Sotheby’s reported its most profitable quarter in the company’s 267-year history.
Sotheby’s boasts record profits and has approved a 125 percent pay raise for its executive officers.
Sotheby’s rewarded its CEO by nearly doubling his annual salary with a 3 million raise. Now he gets 6 million dollars a year.
(He bought himself another yacht.)

Sotheby’s bosses get 125% pay rise
Shareholders expected to approve packages for top five executives
Sotheby’s is seeking approval from its shareholders for a $15.3m pay package for five of its executive officers for 2010.

Where did the 3 million dollars come from? The total cost of the art handlers’ proposed contract was $3.3 million
Despite record profits and growth, Sotheby’s refused to negotiate a fair contract with the professional art handlers.
Some of them had more than 40 years of experience. Sotheby's decided to initiate a lockout, a month after a three-
year contract with Union workers had expired. The art handlers refused to accept a contract that would reduce hours
and outsource a large portion of their jobs to low wage temporary workers. Workers with no insurance and no benefits.
The art handlers refused to accept lower pay and refused to give up their 401Ks.
42 loyal workers were thrown into the street with no paycheck. They were replaced by unskilled and inexperienced
people from the temp agency that Sotheby's made a contract with.
Sotheby's Art Handlers Are on Strike
Aug 2, 2011
After spending the weekend carrying placards instead of Picassos outside the Upper East Side auction house, art handlers—
previously employed on full-time contracts to
move, pack and ship some of the world’s most expensive art—were told not to come to work today. Letters were sent to
the Teamster 814 Union members on Friday after the auction house and union have been in negotiations over contracts
since May.
Sotheby’s alienates NY neighbors, increasing its reputation as a greedy, exclusive company interested only in profit,
making it obvious that Sotheby’s top members belong to the 1%.

Protesters acted of out solidarity with the Teamsters Local 814 art handlers, who have been locked out of their jobs
at Sotheby’s over contract negotiations since July.
Access to Sotheby’s 10th-floor galleries, where some of the house’s most valuable auction lots are on view ahead
of this week’s evening sales, has been limited to members of the press and Sotheby’s account holders, preventing
more of the protests that Occupy Wall Street demonstrators have staged in recent weeks, disrupting Sotheby’s
auctions in New York and London. Those wishing to view the galleries at the top of the building must first establish
a $5,000 line of credit with the auction house in order to become a member.
“I simply cannot believe that they are preventing the general public from even accessing these works which, for the
most part, spend their entire lives in private collections,” said Emerson Bowyer, a Columbia doctoral candidate in art
history, who normally visits the exhibitions, but was turned away this weekend.

Sotheby’s Accused of Cheating Artists on Royalties
October 19, 2011
Complaints filed yesterday in Los Angeles federal court that the auctioneers violated California’s Resale Royalties Act
by failing to pay them 5 percent of the sales price for their works.
