I must have a dozen or more stories I've started and walked away from. It's hard to know what to do with such things and I'm a wont to ever delete any of them. I have probably 3 or 4 just since this past November that have been left. Just curious as to other writer's experiences with such things and what they (you) do.

I have them in a file cube. It's nearly full.

I suppose I shall have to start another.

I don't mind. I know that right now, I haven't time to work on them. I know, too, that they will be there when I have. I can't wait!

Judging by your submissions, I'd say you were prolific last year.

My ongoing work is on my other computer. It's sitting in the corner, unconnected, and looking very woebegone.

I haven't given up on any of mine except my first attempt at erotica, a story set in the 19th Century Balkans that rambled off into too many esoteric areas to be salvable.

All the rest are potential stories, or at worst, material to be examined from time to time and used in another story. The list of stalled stories is longer than my list of posted stories. They range in length from a couple of paragraphs to 10 or 12 Lit pages.

Some previously stalled stories have been tweaked into contest entries when I was short of time.

I cannabalize mine. Chew them up, rip them to shreds, jigsaw the pieces into things I'm working on elsewhere or playing about with. And if anyone wants to attempt to finish one of mine... hehehe... all right. Lemme go find that thread...

I like that, cannabalize them. Maybe there's hope for those old stories.

I did a thread on this maybe half a year ago.

I have 8 stories I've started (written at least 2-3 paragraphs, minimum) and consider abandoned. I have at least two dozen partially written stories that aren't yet finished, nor considered "abandoned".

Some I really want to finish but consider challenging. Others are just going to take a while. Others I just haven't had the heart to kill yet.
