Obviously we can't write about sex with minors in our stories, but can we make references to it?

For example "I had slept with my 12 year old sister earlier that year"

You can mention a character had sexual experience prior to becoming 18. The best answer though is to PM laurel with the passages and see if they meet muster.

I'd say forget it. How important is it to your story? I'd say do it without mentioning the age.

"Years earlier, I slept with my younger sister. That young little twat was awesome! I really enjoyed the hairless mound as I thrust my pecker into it."

Think about it. You don't really have to state the age. Let your reader determine the age of your characters.

This is non-negotiable and has more to do with persons like John Ashcroft than an unrealistic view that teenagers don't have sex. A character can refer sex at an early age (eg I lost my cherry at 14), but cannot describe it.

If your story comes across as pedophilia, it will probably be rejected.

Make sure that your characters are over 18 or at least a senior in high school to fix the problem/

leave it out

'underage' sex happens as we all know but let's not encourage the sick fuck paedophiles who might hang around sites like this waiting for an opportunity

The green part would pass without commet.

The bue part would probably get second or third look, depending on how prominant the sister is to the rest of the story.

The red part could very well get a story rejected because it's a graphic description of sex with someone underage.

The genral rule is that a character can remember having sex before turning eighteen, but cannot have a graphic or arousing flashback to the details of any underage experience.

Context is important and the exact same words might pass un-noticed in one story and cause another story to be rejected.

The advice to avoid specifying age is generaly good, but sometimes it's important to establish that the age doesn't match the appearance -- one of my main characters is intentionaly described to present the image of a "japanese elementary school girl" so establishing that she was in fact of legal age was critical to getting the story accepted; if I had relied solely on her description, the story would have been rejected out of hand.

The devil is in the details when it come to mentioning past experiences -- If there is no detail and no titillation, you can mention that a female character's fixation on big cocks began because even her daddy's puny pecker seemed huge when she seduced him on her 12th birthday, but you can't describe her first seduction.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a rash of threads donated to this topic lately?

C'mon folks! The rules are what they are. If they're that difficult to live with, then I'd suggest posting your work that doesn't conform to those rules somewhere else. Simple.

Exactly.

There are ways of mentioning underage sex without being graphic or crossing the line. If you have to ask, chances are you crossed it.

But it's also amusing to see how many stories start with "it was her 18th birthday..." :D

Which has nothing to do with underage sex. That's the law of averages in action. I mean, doesn't pretty much everyone have a multiracial, bisexual gang bang on their eighteenth birthday?

I thought it was a tradition by now.

Yes! Yes, I agree, but please let's not say that 18 is the legal age for sex.

I totally support Laurel but, face facts, the law says 16 is the age of consent. Don't get me wrong, I have no stories based on 17 year-olds, but there is no law stopping 16+ consensual sex stories.

I stil have no interest in writing them, though.

I'm waiting for Weird Harold to post a more elaborate and extended example of a story that can't be posted.

Elfin's point,

//I totally support Laurel but, face facts, the law says 16 is the age of consent. Don't get me wrong, I have no stories based on 17 year-olds, but there is no law stopping 16+ consensual sex stories.

in its bolded part, is not correct, as far as possible legal vulnerability is concerned (if you include laws that judges have temporarily kept from coming into force). a law--where there is one--stating the 16 is the 'age of consent' is not relevant to this issue; the issue is a law about material 'harmful to minors' or depiction of sex with a minor, where 'minor' is defined as under 18.

Oh? There aren't laws?

I think that's a questionable statement, elfin. There are laws keeping underagers (under18, that is) from being in porn, appearing naked in film or photographs, at least in terms of them being portrayed as sex objects if not altogether. Context comes into play here. We're not talking about people having sex privately, where the age line is at 16 in most places. We're discussing then being intentionally objectionalized, protrayed as sex objects. Eventhough no actual people are involved here, eventhough no one who is under 18 must actually take part, but is merely represented, the law is still designed in a way as to at least limit our viewpoints of those under 18 in terms of them being objects.

Wait, why am I talking? Where's Lauren hynde?
