Underage masturbation -- how far to go?

I've searched the archives, but can't find out whether this question has been addressed.

Is it possible, within the rules of the site, to post stories which mention "underage" (less than 18) masturbation in passing, as long as there's no graphic description of the process?

Example 1. "He had been masturbating since he was eleven, when he found his Dad's Playboy collection under some tarps in the garage."

Example 2. "Her parents installed a hot tub in the backyard when she was nine, and it didn't take long for her to discover how to pleasure herself on the jets."

On the one hand, I can see that mentioning that children have sexual needs that they satisfy might be outside the "adult only" purview of the stories. On the other hand, it seems ludicrous to pretend that kids don't masturbate when we all know that they do, and that some prominent health officials have even recommended that they do so. Is even a mention of that fact taboo?

And where is the line drawn? At the references above? Or would it even be permissible to mention that the character had sex while still a minor with somebody else, again without a graphic description of the act? (Example: "She lost her cherry at the age of fifteen, but it wasn't until she was a sophomore in college that she discovered what sex was really all about.")

Your guidance would be most appreciated here, editors. I am truly confused.

Sometimes a story will be accepted with items such as you cite; other times not. One author was rejected for: "Don't worry about hurting me," she (already established as an 18-y-o virgin) said, "My hairbrush did that years ago."

On balance I think you have a better than 50% chance of your examples being accepted, as long as there are not many of them in any one story.

I think the longer you've posted stories to the site that didn't challenge the edges, the more likely you'll be permitted an occasional journey to the edge.

My guess is that the first would fly, why the second is chancy. No matter how minimal it seems, describing the means by which it's done ( the actual physical act ) is dangerous ground.

Mentioning the Playboys in conjunction with masturbation may be getting a little close as well, but I still think it will fly. One or the other alone is even more likely to pass muster.

The hairbrush one I'm not at all surprised about. It's connected in the same passage with pain.

Ask yourself if the actual numerical age is all that important. That alone is a red flag that can get you hit with the rejection hammer, everything else aside.

I think I've got it. The original version of my current story went:

"Have you ever lived in a house with a hot tub before?"

"No," she said. "This is all new to me."

"Then let me show you something." I positioned myself so that my crotch was just in front of one of the jets. "Just let it run on your pussy. See, you can spread your pussy lips and get more pressure, or close them and get less. You can also move forward or backward." I demonstrated as I talked. "And look, you can pull your clittie hood up and let it beat right on your clit when you want."

"Ooh, let me try! Does it work?"

"Oh, yeah! I've been getting myself off this way since I was thirteen. My parents never even dreamed I was doing this. They'd have lost it for good."

I can see that by describing the physical act, even though it takes place in the present with an adult narrator and companion, I might be in dangerous water.

But if I change the last paragraph to something more vague, such as:
Oh, yeah! I've been getting myself off this way for ages.

It's understood that the character is nineteen or twenty, but since we're obviously not using "ages" in a literal sense, the reader can use his or her imagination to fill in the gaps.

Would that fly?

I think you have a much better chance this way, and more importantly you avoided the topic such that whatever you may have implied, no one can say you explicitly... explicitly something. Yeah.

Yep, just removing the numerical age from that example should do the trick of letting the reader fill in the blanks without triggering the rejection hammer. I don't think you even necessarily have to drop the part about the parents ( though that could be somewhat iffy ) without that numerical red flag in there.

If it were me, I'd leave the part about the parents in and run the ( IMO minimal ) risk of a rejection, because it adds flavor to the scene. If you're expecting the possibility, you can be ready to re-submit immediately with that part dropped, and not lose too much time in getting it posted.

I would think it would fly, and I personally like being able to fill in the gaps in stories on some things, where the info is not needed to make sense of the story or the stories characters. Leave "ages" in there! IMHO anyway!

Well, I've submitted the story (titled "Hot Tub Service Girl"). We'll see how it survives the vetting process. I eliminated age references, and alluded to the parents only obliquely.

Thanks to everyone for your guidance and concern. I really do want to do the best I can and help make this web site the best it can be.

I will watch for it to be posted. Good Luck!

I edited a story which was rejected for underage sex because the marriage of a seventeen year old was discussed by two characters. "Seventeen" was changed to "young man" and it was accepted.

If an age less than 18 is mentioned, it is very likely to be rejected.

Wake Up

Yeah, eighteen is the "annointing oil" so to speak.

At Lit, nobody fucks until they're 18. Unlikely, but there you have it.

Rule imposed.

word.

also, age disclaimers help as does putting a not for the editor to explain what you've done and why. i've had to do that a couple of times because i tend to write a lot of back story into my stories and this has lead to problems in the past. now that i automatically put an age disclaimer at the beginning of all my stories regardless of content and add notes when i know i might be pushing the limits i haven't had a single story rejected for any reason.

Marriage? Seriously? What does marriage have to do with sex?

In some communities parents do engagement of their infants sleeping in cradle. When they grow up, they have to get married even though groom is thief or beggar and vice versa

Reminds me of a certain anime I saw, the basis for which was a high school student was secretly married to one of her teachers. While it was legal, there wasn't any mention of the two ever having sex. Mostly because the girl's father kept poking his head through the window whenever the husband kissed her on the cheek...

My only response to this is a cartoon I once saw. It was two frames and held the same scene
frame one had the groom with a thought bubble saying "I am getting married, I can have sex whenever I want."

Frame two had the bride with a thought bubble saying "I am getting married, I never have to have sex again."

I've known couples where this obviously was reversed. Just sayin'.
