I was just tipped off by Mat (many thanks!) that one of my stories has been ripped onto a gay porn site. I wouldn't really have minded if they'd *asked* - or if they'd posted the whole thing! The amusing part? They kept all of the lead-up and managed to chop off the cumulative and most explicit sex scene.

In defense of Mat, she was googling an incomprehensible word in the dedication. It's not a real word, and so the hit it pulled up was a site with the same story.

basically the stuff i write sucks but i have found three times now it has been stolen. only once have i been upset by it. that one poem has special meaning to me and i felt almost violated. dumb i know since i am the one who plastered it on a public website.

I've spent a good deal of time writing a couple of them, and one of them was written for a special reason. If someone else likes them and decides they want them, then who am I to argue. Indeed. Although if one must have cheats and criminals, it's nice when they are incompetent.

The IQ of the rippers can probably be measured in single digits - preferably the extended middle one! If you Google 'Alex de Kok' you'll find a load of links. A lot are to Literotica, which is good, a few are to Tatelou's Psyche Erotica site, which is also good, as I have a chaptered story there. A few are to persons also (and probably genuinely) called Alex de Kok.

The rest will take you to assorted porn sites, none of which have ever approached me for permission, usually referencing an isolated fragment, including - and this is where it gets silly - my 'How-To' on including bold and italic in your submissions. I've PMed Laurel in the past but there's a limit to how much she can do.

Other writers here have said that it's almost a compliment, but that presupposes selection (my 'How-To'?). I wouldn't be surprised if in fact it wasn't some robot trolling (the 'T' word again) for phrases to put into the meta tags for the sites. On a random sampling of the links from my Googling, almost always there was no indication of my work anywhere in sight. Where I can identify my work, Laurel has been, or will be, informed.

Some of you will have seen my 'very angry and hurt' posts this morning.

I too have been plagiarised, but in a way that really hurts.

I was alerted by a fan who had read my 'Chocolate Sauce and Handcuffs' story, and came across it on another site. Only this time, it was claimed as original work by another author, who had changed the title to 'T Shirts N Cuffs' and changed the name of one of the main characters.

I checked it out (with Scheherezade's help), and found an e-mail addy for the author.

I was astounded to realise I know this e-mail addy and consider the owner of that addy a friend.

But wait.
It gets better.
The said plagiarist is also an author on Lit !!!!!!

This is what has hurt the most. The story stealing is kind of perversely flattering, but to have it done by someone with whom I spent a lot of time on e-mail over a period of many months, and who is still on my AOL buddy list......THAT FUCKING HURTS !!!!!!

I have pm-ed Laurel, and await her response. If I'm not satisfied, then I'm in there, all guns blazing, and will be naming and shaming the culprit on here.

I've had a lot of stories or parts of stories ripped off. Sometimes I google a phrase from a nice E/C story and find the words included in some site about violent rape. I think that bothers me more than having it stolen.

I think what they do is print the first part as a teaser in hopes that a reader will so much want to find out that they will subscribe to the paysite and be foolish enough to give them a credit card number and expiration date.
