Deacon "Deek" McGarrow is a considerable number of years younger than his adoptive sister, Amelia. While he is just shy of thirty, his sister is over forty. She even has a daughter who has just recently graduated high school, who Deek has not seen in years. That changes when she shows up at his lakeside cabin in the woods, wanting to spend her Summer there before college.
Deek suspects she has ulterior motives for her impromptu visit, the truths about which soon come to fruition when she displays an affinity for magic. She then reveals she has been having visions in her sleep that have pointed to him, and that she has developed a few very basic powers in recent months. She wasn't sure how to bring up the subject once she arrived, but her accidental display of whatever power she has sparked the conversation.
Deek then reveals that her visions were right to lead to him -- he is secretly a wizard. He explains how he was born into a powerful bloodline before being adopted by Amelia's family, and didn't find out until he was an adult that his birth family had all been killed and he was taken to an orphanage as an infant. He explains that even he hasn't fully mastered his bloodline abilities, and he's not sure how she can use magic since they are not blood related, but he agrees to help train her.
What starts as a mentor/apprentice agreement gradually turns into a forbidden romance. I need one female to play Deek's niece, and while I have set this up as a non-incest story, that can be changed should the writer who signs on prefer that. Regardless of the relationship, they eventually discover that many of the old ancient bloodlines have been killed off by the Knights of Saint Vogelsar, who are the modern day successors to the Templars and the Inquisition and have been secretly receiving orders from the Vatican for ages.
After some peaceful bonding, training, and romance, Deek and his niece have their lives turned upside down as they become the targets of the Korpiklaani, a family of paladins from the Nordic Chapter of the Knights of Saint Vogelsar. They were drawn to the cabin by the niece's visions, neither her nor Deek realizing she was lighting up like a beacon on the magical spectrum.
Whoever plays the niece can decide her exact powerset, but for Deek I'm going with what he calls his Soul Forge. It references a deep well of power within him that allows him to "fire it up" and summon purple flames to his palms. When powered up and focused, the whites of his eyes turn black as night while his irises glow an electric violet, and a deep indigo aura rages around him. In this form, he will eventually develop the ability to focus the flames into lightning attacks and energy waves or blasts.
