Not by you, my good old EB, which I appreciate. Not by a few others as well. But a number of other people did start to ignore me, only because of my criticism of Laurel. You're not ignored, you're indulged. Big difference.
But you've mellowed, which might be a bit unsettling (not really).
Well thank goodness for the people who know it all, even when they misread multiple posts from multiple people due to skimming!I'm pretty sure you have no idea how much time Staff here would spend (mostly wasted time) trying to appease the over-entitled.
If (as seems clear) they're already overstretched doing the tech stuff, & attending to Reports &c (which is where problem-reporting belongs), then they've got no time at all for activity on the forums; and becoming more responsive here in the forums would just lead folks to seek ever-more responsiveness here, rapidly descending past productivity's event-horizon.
So I have to revise this somewhat (or may, we'll see if it somehow changes back when the story, scheduled for tomorrow, goes up) but at least from the story html as it currently exists, it seems that when it was approved 1. Line breaks were added between double lines of separators I'm using and 2. Mdashes were changed to double hyphens. It's strange, because I definitely have other stories actually posted that do use mdashes that remained mdashes when published. This isn't anything like the wording changes the OP saw, and it doesn't significantly affect the story or anything, so it's not really a huge deal. I do prefer the mdashes over the double hyphen, though, because one story I wrote before I realized that unicode characters were allowed had actually ended up with a line break between the two hyphens on a full-width layout, making it look weird. (And before anyone asks, I write my stories directly in lit-approved html, so there's no formatting conversion going on behind the scenes or anything.) It's just a little odd, is all.I've had unapproved edits made to my work on 'the site with the red interface' (IYKYK), but never heard of it happening here. Good to know it's not Lit's policy to do so, and some other issue must have occurred. (It's irked me when it's happened on the other site, but not enough to make a nuisance of myself. Good on you for having more of a backbone than I would.)
Ah, that must be what I did in the stories where it did go through. Weird quirk, but I guess I'll do that in the future. Thanks. The em dash thing is a known change. If you use a literal em dash character, it gets changed to two hyphens. To get an em dash that remains, you need to use the entity — - this does work (I've used it in every submission). A minor, annoying point but not a mystery.
Hello all. I've noticed that my latest story, 'Maddy on the Move Pt. 10' has been edited by someone after submission. The changes are small, but unnecessary, and the point is, I didn't authorise them.
Has anyone else experienced this?
This is a deal-breaker for me. If someone is going to presumptuously alter my work after submission, I will simply stop submitting.

I disagree. I found this forum thread when I was searching for a solution to my problem. Laurel's post told me what to do to correct said problem. As such, it was informative. If readers are thinking the administrator's post was informative, I don't see how. I saw it a somewhat of a tongue lashing about daring to inquire about a problem.
Yeah, I didn't read any aggression in the post at all. It was a generic admin response.I disagree. I found this forum thread when I was searching for a solution to my problem. Laurel's post told me what to do to correct said problem. As such, it was informative.
That post basically said, if you have a bug write a bug report. IOW, let me know privately, don't post it publicly, so I can sweep it under the rug. And as a reward, I will take care of it manually. If readers are thinking the administrator's post was informative, I don't see how. That's projection. You can't know that was what motivated it. It's very "assume bad faith - " which is the opposite but in the exact same bucket as "defend everything without question."That post basically said, if you have a bug write a bug report. IOW, let me know privately, don't post it publicly, so I can sweep it under the rug. And as a reward, I will take care of it manually.
That's the same covert mentality as the people who get their work posted after being in pending purgatory by sending a pm. The bug is still there, their story just manually posted.
As always my opinion and YMMV
Ehhh, that's a bit much to assume. It struck me as more of a "here's the proper way to report a bug" sort of thing. That post basically said, if you have a bug write a bug report. Everybody's allowed to have an opinion and I stated mine. Since 2003 (the earliest date I could find in the tech support forum) the pending purgatory bug has been documented but as of yet (23 years later) there has been no fix or even admission that the bug exists by the powers that be. Huh, odd that they wouldn't acknowledge it exists. I thought they had for some reason.Everybody's allowed to have an opinion and I stated mine. I checked the lit tech support forum, nowhere has the powers that be mentioned that there is a pending queue bug. Like I said there's been numerous posts from authors going back as far as 2003 but none have been acknowledged.Huh, odd that they wouldn't acknowledge it exists. I thought they had for some reason.
Yup. Shush it up. Don't call attention to it.That post basically said, if you have a bug write a bug report. IOW, let me know privately, don't post it publicly, so I can sweep it under the rug. And as a reward, I will take care of it manually.
