(aka some questions)

just a wonderin if any of you speak different languages...and where did you learn them...
i speak
ENGLISH...
though mostly in fragmented sentences ( just grew up with it...)
SPANISH...
Hablo español fluido, no soy seguro si soy cualquier bueno en la pronunciación, pero viajo a España y a Méjico mucho. (Spanish class, 6 years...translation, I speak Spanish fluently, I am not sure if i am any good at pronunciation, but i travel to spain and mexico often.)
GERMAN...
Diese Sprache ist zu meinem Inneren lieb. Ich habe Angst, daß ich die Sprache verliere, weil ich sie nicht häufig verwende. (this language is dear to my heart, but i am afraid i will lose it...)

(my Oma...aka Grandma, spoke mostly german in the household i grew up in, sticks on ya...but i speak lower german...)

FRENCH:
Je me demandais si le français parlant vous tourne sur.
(I was wondering If speaking French is turning you on..)
Though im not even sure if that sentence is right...I took two years of that.

I guess i could just use an online transator to find out, but hey. it would be funny if the literal translation was somewheres along the lines of "purple monkeys at twelve eat hampsters..." or not...but i am proud of this that i speak many languages, i am working on Portugese and Latin at the current moment. Lemme try the portugese i know...
Meu nome é Monique. (uh, that is my name is monique...but that is all i know right off the top of my head...)
Ich bin müde.( i am tired...that is german...)
Ora li lascerò. ( I will leave you now...french)

Whoa, didn't mean for htis to be forever long, just curious as to what you all speak.
Au revoir.

I speak just enough of several languages to amuse the locals when I travel.

...

Sea más específico, mi amigo. Qué lenguajes usted utiliza? Y por qué razón?

I know some French. Not nearly as much as I should after taking it in school for TEN years, including one year at the university level, where I got top marks in grammar, but alas... c'est la vie!

ho imparato l'italiano, dalla mia madre, noi ho vissuto in Italia fino a che non fossi 7

:)

Hablo un poquito de espanol (cinco anos)

nihongo o hanashimashita

alsoay eakspay igpay atinlay

Specifically, wow, let's see Italian, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Indonesian, and Latin. But like I said, just enough to make me dangerous.

English

I know that shocks you. I larntit at that thar skul thang.

StudMuffinese

Yes, he slices, he dices, he's got his own language.

Korean

Guess where I picked it up.

Since this BB doesn't allow the character set to be displayed in all it's utterly illegible glory *frowns* then I'll have to romanize. Which is a pain in the buttocks because I don't know standard romanization. Blah.

My first language is french, speak also english, spanish and a tidy bit of german, which I learned back in college.

The languages I speak fluently is:

Danish
Yes it's also a language, and not only a pastry!! ;)
My natural language since I live in Denmark.

English/American
I've learned it mostly as an exchange student in the States many years ago, and just kept it up since then by reading a lot of books. And then when I got the net and started to chat, I was surprised at now many people said I was very good at it.

German
I learned this by attending a German boarding school in Denmark in the 10th grade. It did fade quite a bit over a period of time, until I worked 3 months in a vacation house rental agency one summer, that sure made it all come back to me. But I'm still not as fluently in it as English, and I can't write it at all!

Swedish
Only partly, since it's very similar to Danish, and also because my mom have been married with a Swede for many years. So I've picked up some there.

I can speak english.

Je parle Francais un petie.

Y yo habla espanol.

Growing up in NYC, I needed those and a few other languages, just to buy groceries at the local store.

I tried to learn Chinese so I could understand what they were always talking about in the Chinese restaurant. They always seemed to be having a blast in there. But all I could ever learn was how to say "extra duck sauce please"

I speak

Danish. Yep like Shyguy said. It's a language not a pastry LOL

English. Neighbour to the west

German. Neighbour to the south

Swedish. Neighbours to the east

Norwegian. Neighbours to the north

I know a little french but only a few phrases and stuff.

I speak Central New York American.

Can I come visit you guys so I can learn something else? Maybe an exchange deal?

SOLITARY SELF ABUSE IN PUBLIC

The title is not a bad pun here ... we are all masturbating our egos with this stuff (and what's wrong with THAT, I ask!) ... AND it is a demonstration of my command of Classical Catholic Church TeacherTalk. That is a specific language used by nuns and priests with young people prior to 1970 (whether the religious got their hands on kids in school or just on Sundays) and reflects an abnormal fixation on masturbation. Just analyze the words, fer cryin' out loud!

As for languages, I am fascinated by words and speech, and soaked up everything I could learn. Later, as a volunteer teacher of English as a second language, and then in business, I used everything I learned (OK, so Latin is useful only when traveling and I go to Mass in another country; if the day's congregation is small, the priest might switch from vernacular to Latin.). The principal ones - English (the mama tongue), Yo hablo Espanol, Ich Deutsch kann, je parle Francais, gavra Russkovo (kinda), dico Latinum (and so what?), I studied Portugese so I could sing "Manja de Carneval," picked up really nasty Italian from those kids down the street, and I have collected these useful phrases from around the world:

('tswana - spoken in Botswana - "Ke rata mmele wahacho!" - which means, "You have a great ass!")

(Mandarin - "Hung ho leong" - which the guys hold me means "what a great ass!" but I have my doubts, they loved teasing the "gwai loh" or foreign devils)

(Polish - "dimi buzhida" - "Give us a kiss, darling, before we hop the train")
