ESPN.com has a poll question up right now asking people who they think should be favored to win Super Bowl 38. The choices? Bucs, Eagles, Raiders, Rams & Steelers

I think those who know me know where I am going with this...

Again the Titans get overlooked and disrespected!

The Eagles I get.. the Bucs I get.. those two teams could be called favorites.

The Raiders?! Yeah I know they just made the big game, but they are old and damn near double over the salary cap!

The Rams?! I'm wondering just who in the hell is gonna be the QB of this team that didn't even make the playoffs, and yet they are supposed to be favorites to win the Super Bowl next year?

The Steelers?! This is of course assuming that Tommy Maddox wasn't a one year wonder - are you paying attention Kurt Warner? - I think.. But damnit didn't the Titans beat these guys in the playoffs?

Like I said.. Un-fuckin-believable!! They only went 12-2 in their last 14 games, made the AFC final and only gave the Raiders all they could handle. Not to mention they don't have any big cap issues coming up this off season so that pretty much the same team will be intact for next season..

Out of interst sake I voted (Bucs) anyway.. Turns out from the 61,000 or so who voted, the Raiders, Steelers and Rams together can't even make 25% of the vote.

I'm just wondering if the remaining number are thinking the same way I am.. "What the hell are those three teams doing in this poll?"

Polls are just another way to say that nobody has a damn clue until it is all over.

Not much of a Titans fan here but I agree they should be in the poll. I'd also throw in the Niners who have one of the youngest teams int eh NFL and look to improve depending on the new coach and the ability to find a second wide receiver. The defense is improving, if the D-Line can stay healthy and play to form.

The fuckin Giants should be there! Their 'O' popped out some pretty impressive numbers over the last 6 weeks. They will be even better next year

now if only we could get Ronde...

re: Giants

Not sure, jerseyboy, the Giants dont look like much of a threat to me. their offense only played well int eh last third of the season as far as execution and game plan. Fassel only seems to coach well enough to save his job.

Their secondary is in bad shape (Ronde would help big time, best cover corner and can blitz too). The D-line is aging and possibly ready to get old quick.

Tiki had a great year and Collins is doing well, except for INTs, but they still have salary commitments that prevent them from changing too much. With the Cowboys and Redskins improving, the Eagles being great... their division is going to be much tougher next year.

Getting their WRs healthy will help but they need to have a good draft.

Yeah, I'd say the 49ers are a safe bet to make to contend next year. Although the fact they fired Steve Mariucci has me scratching my head with wonder. There aren't many coaches that are better than him, but San Fran must think they do have someone better.

The G-men.. I don't know. They are in a tough tough division. If they were in any other NFC division, I'd give them a chance.. but against Philly who will be tough again next year and against the Redskins who are boud to put it together one of these years..

I think to make a decent poll, the options should have been Bucs, Eagles, Titans, 49ers and Jets

Okay, last I checked, the Super Bowl was just played last Sunday. It'll be a good five months before training camps really kick off, and another month thereafter until pre-season begins. And another month after that (totalling seven months) before the season actually begins.

So, in a half year, you think you now who is going to the Super Bowl? GIMEE A BREAK!!!

What trades will ensue in the off-season? Who will get injured? And with the times being as they are - who will be arrested/kicked off the squad between now and September?

It's one thing to speculate. But predict? I can cut ESPN a break, because with the NFL out of the picture, they'll have to wait for the NHL and NBA to get to their postseasons until they get any real good stories, and by then spring training will be underway (until then, that's a lot of sponsor money lost).

Predicting the next Super Bowl in late January. Ha!

Based on if the season started next week, these are the teams we'd have to go with.. But you're right.. there is an entire off season to go through before we can start picking possible contenders and favorites.

It's not that any of us assume we know who's gonna be in the next Super Bowl.. but it's always fun to speculate even if it's a full year away isn't it?

2 things

1) I think peoples main issue with the Titans is the likelihood that it will be the same team. A weak running game, sub par receivers and a banged up QB. I don't think the Titans are a very impressive team.

2) What's the big deal? A little informal poll that some intern at ESPN took 5 minutes putting together?
