Um, really? (political)

I heard a columnist compare her to Brittany Spears. I think the comparison boiled down to the fact they are both 'publicity seekers'.

To me she is just being honest and reflecting 2000 years of Christian dogma. Even today, what do you think missionaries do? It is in the nature of religion to deny the validity of other beliefs. They then try to exterminate the other adherents or try to convert them. Conversion is sometimes less messy.

That is why there are so many religious wars and pograms and even wars that aren't inherently religious often try to claim some religious backing for their cause - as if that gives it some validity.

If you don't like her message (and I don't) you're probably not really a Christian. If you 're just complaining because she's being politically incorrect - take a number!

"While Ann Coulter has freedom of speech, news outlets should exercise their freedom to use better judgment," said Ira Forman, NJDC's executive director. "Just as media outlets don't invite those who believe that Martians walk the earth to frequently comment on science stories, it's time they stop inviting Ann Coulter to comment on politics."
Teehee. :D

I agree with everyone else about Coulter--she is pathetic.

But I also agree with Straight-8's take on the issue.

Rumple Foreskin

I'm waiting for Coulter's autobiography - "Rantings from a Rubber Room". That woman is nuts.

OK, I find the whole comment she made incredibly stupid and obviously meant to offend. Though have to disagree with Ann Coulter being insane.

To me she is not insane, not mentally challenged in that way, she is simply the low end of the steotypical blond woman. You've heard the jokes I am sure, the one about drowning a blond by putting her mirror at the bottom of the pool and so forth. Ann Coulter IS that blond. :cathappy:

Seriously I mean think about it, if she was insane she would not be talking about how christians are perfect and jews should become perfect by becoming christian. Nope she would talk about how god talks to her, or christ whispers in her ear to kill this ratty old lady down the street.

Instead of that, she talks about something that is sure to create a huge backlash, doesn't downplay it, hasn't apologized. She is more or less officially the stupidest celebrity on the planet. Britney has problems though probably from drinking and hormonal imbalances, Paris is simply an exhibitionist and is a tad stuck on herself. Ann Coulter is the living breathing embodiment of stupidity.

Most likely she is a best seller because she is christian and dumber than anyone else so it's not 'hard' reading her books. Which oddly enough is something everyone avoids doing when it comes to religious materials.

You have to be pretty damn clever to be so infuriating. I can't imagine someone being able to push buttons as well and consistently as Coulter does by accident.

She's the Mother of all Internet Trolls.

I agree. A classic example of how intelligence and ethics are not the same thing.

Gosh... you've led a sheltered life :D Either that or it says entirely the wrong thing about me.

She is attention seeking provocative but one gets the impression she is spouting with a degree of personal conviction recognising that the PC incorrect thing will nail the headline. Coulter isn't the problem, the media looking to promote themselves on the back of her next proclamation is the problem. Without the media, Coulter wouldn't exist.

:D It's my eternal optimism about human nature: "No one's really that stupid and annoying--it must be a brilliant act!"

I never read Coulter, myself. Just because I am fortunate enough to be able to pay a low copay for my Linisopril doesn't mean I should go about doing stuff that's sure to raise my blood pressure....

*sigh*

So I lost the pool.

I had that "Ann will drop the n-bomb on national television."

Who had "A Call To Arms: The Holocaust Didn't Happen... But It's Not A Bad Idea If You Think About It."

Agreed.

She's not a fucking Christian, just another wannabe Geobbels.

I have been working in the middle of Russian for five years and I can honestly say I have not once seen or heard Anne Coulter.

And I thought it was only all those naked 20 y/o girls that made this paradise on earth.... :D

May I refer you to a film, with Melanie Griffith, I think, something along the lines of, "A Stranger Among Us" about a lady cop in a Jewish community, 'Hassidic' Jews I think, who are surely different than main stream society.

May I also remind you that Jewish culture, traditions and customs, like Islamic culture, is very much alien to Western Christian based societies.

Ms. Coulter, ( I saw the interview), was simply saying that Jews should change, grow up and become modern Christians with a more tolerant attitude towards plurality.

Ann Coulter may not have the intellectual capacity of the late Ayn Rand, but she surely has made a larger splash than Ms. Rand did in terms of popular opinion makers, e.g., the Lit Forum.

Her flaw, and it is a fatal one, is her faith.

The reason you folks hate her so unrelentingly, is that her arrows and barbs, without the political correctness, but said in plain terms, says it like it is, "If Democrats had a Brain, They would be Republicans"

I don't indulge in fantasies or dreams outside my prose, but if I did, it would be to have her arms and legs around me as I filled her and whispered, "You're doin good kid, keep it up!"

Amicus... :)

I would disagree that her fatal flaw is her faith, but her intolerance toward any idea not in agreement with her own. Religious, political or otherwise. Her intolerance may have roots in her faith, but it has spread like wildfire throughout the dead and rotting morality that she left behind long ago.

She's a zealot with no morals and a big mouth. Like most pundits. It's not surprising to me that you fantasize about her Amicus.

Anyone that would apologize for or cheer on the sort of behavior she exhibits at every opportunity is indeed sad.

I don't hate her. I feel rather sorry for her.

It's a peculiar sort of hell being an addict. Being an anger addict is one of the worst.

Hmmm....I postulated that her 'faith' was a fatal flaw, because it detracts from her rationality. Her 'intolerance', is as mine, I am intolerant of anyone who advocates violating my individual rights for a greater good, whatever that may mean
Her, 'dead and rotting morality'. is a play on words accommodating secular humanists as she believes, so I understand, in the Sanctity of Life, although from religious principles, not rational ones.

She is not a zealot, she does express morality and I have read her books and watched many appearances on television and she seldom is given an opportunity to express herself, but is always defending something she has said.

And I am not, 'sad' in the least, but feel privilged to come to her defense whenever I can.

Let's put you before the camera's and see how you perform under pressure. I don't think you would be up for it in defending your belief's.

Amicus...

Meh. Big deal.

She's a religious person. So she, like every other religious person, is convinced that things are a ceratin way. And logically, she must be convinced that other beliefs of how things are are misconceptions, flawed, inferior, and that it would be better if everyone else also had the "right" belief. Some believe that if you don't accept Jesus as your savior you go to hell. It's natural then for them to wish that other people would believe too.

She's just saying what any Christian with a missionary ambition is thinking.

So the problem is not really her opinion. (Except that I think it's wrong. I'm sure even Amicus would agree with me, since she is in fact promoting a religion.) It's a fairly common one. In almost any religion. And most of her opinions behind the clownery are no more controversial than most other neocons.

The problem is that she is the most anoying douchebag alive in a pair of heels, and still is allowed to yap her trolling on prime time TV.

I'm sure some would call what she does refreshingly direct and unburdened by political correctness. To me it's just embarrassing, disrespectful to opponents and public alike, and bereft of human dignity.

Ann Coulter looks like what Ayn Rand always wished she looked like, except, no doubt, for that highly suspicious-looking Adam's-apple.* Rand did a good job with the looks she had, but she was a chunky little dark lady who wished with all her being that she was the anorexic-looking blonde she always idealized in most of her stories. That's why she spent about 25 years on amphetamines trying to become that way and her personality deteriorated radically as a result. When Nathaniel Branden dumped her, she would have done better to simply go and smash up his truck like in that Carrie Underwood song (wait, they were all in New York, probably no one had a truck) and get it out of her system rather than split up the Objectivist movement without being honest about why.

*It's amusing that Amicus thinks Coulter is all that, considering that he's always denigrating women who "pretend to be men," whatever the hell that means (probably either stepping a centimeter away from the kinder/kirche/kuche role he'd have them in or being insufficiently pretty).

I would politely disagree with that line. I think its merely propoganda to smear her on "she has no morals". She likely /does/ have morals, certainly if she is Christian she has morals (kind of come with it, really).

There are plenty of reasons to bash Ann Coulter, a lack of personal morals is hardly one of them.
