As they say just over the border in South Holland, het weer is weg naar koe, roughly translated the weather has changed for the worst.

However, to cheer you lot up try this quiz, it will tell you how well you are mustering the lockdown.

Cant even isolate 'out the back' in this grim spring atmosphere!

Anyhow my trouble is i am a grumpy fucker with patches of positivism!! (if it is a feckin word)

Morning all from the glorious North West

Greetings, Yorkshire is sunny and warm and ... well actually I only know what it's like in a tiny weeny but because they won't let me see any more of it... but that's the right thing for now

Hope all are coping and sticking with it, more traffic out when I was on the bicycle last night, wondering if patience is wearing?

Afternoon, I'm not sure if it's patience wearing thin or the press driving the public into thinking everyone will be out of lockdown next week.

It has been a glorious month for cycling though.

Indeed it has and at even an hour a day I clocked the best total for April I have in my saddo spreadsheet - 472 miles!!

Morning all, another day, another playlist to listen to

G'day, good to see so many people behaving sensibly this weekend, the queues in city centres for takeaway coffees almost back to normal, good that so many people are concerned about these business going bust they are willing to risk so much to help them 😊

Morning all...

...just as we leave 'phase 1' would seem we are probably in phase 1.5

Did i miss the bit about it going away and coming back... i think we 'end up' deciding we have to live (somehow) with it around us...

and yes glad to see that coffee proves to be more important for some....

(and seriously i am now going to make a coffee!)

It's a bit cruel, but maybe we need a second peak. It'll be harder for everyone but it seems we didn't learn anything at all from the first wave.

Morning all...

Bugs with this use of the word 'normal'... what the fcuk is that??? The new normal... !

who wants to be normal though, new or otherwise

That's is my take on it too.... it is a word i detest as it has no 'meaningful' meaning ;)
Dislike it when people describe themselves as average or normal.. there is no such thing!!!!

We are planning for the move from state 1 - pre-Covid - through state 2 - during the various stages of Covid and response - to state 3 - the way we will work when it's relatively steady state. None of which is normal, it's just there and we get on with it.

Agree the term normal, and the frustrating use of 'new normal' , is really not great and can demonise those who are not 'normal' ... just different!

There's not enough praise being heaped upon the NHS. We have the Thursday applause, rainbows and now occasional news report but this time last year nobody expected that NHS staff would be going in to work to risk their lives on a daily basis.
Genuine Kudos.

Agreed and much respect and humility (for what they do)

I wish there was away - and maybe it should be being done now that the 'prevailing' society would re adjust itself to equalise the 'reward' (lets say)......

ie Nurses and all these other 'so called' 'essential' workers... should be getting paid more and many (if not all) of the middle and higher management / consultants... who have creamed these sectors to the bare bone.. should be paid less .... and then we have footballers and the rest of the mad world to contend with..

I suspect when it returns to 'whatever the word maybe' - it will all go back to how it as before in regards of rewards ... and next time we come to vote .. yeah we will vote the same fuckers in for our own selfish needs....

...did i mentin .... good afternoon ;)

Good afternoon.

I think footballers have been vilified enough now although some aren't doing their sport any favours.

When we have a stabilised society and it comes to the next election we'll still be in another period of austerity due to Covid so their won't be the money in the coffers for pay rewards for essential and key workers.

Which is why it 'needs' to be re distributed....

I find it pretty vulgar that people can earn £20k, £40k... £200k a WEEK .. whilst there are people homeless, living in poverty and squalor etc... transpose that to the current moment.. ...people earning less than £20k a YEAR putting their lives and that of their close family at risk in order to save / care for other people (regardless of status).... something somewhere doesn't stack up.... clapping or no clapping ;)

It does, you're absolutely right, but we're living in a society where people appear on tv for a few minutes and receive celebrity status. The celebrities are at the front line, unseen, unheard, saving lives.

I'll pack my soapbox away now...
