Uh Oh

Yep I’d be doomed, halfway done with a part 2 for my shrunken story, hit a writers block.
And that doesn’t even begin to touch all the projects here at the house 😵‍💫

Seems like closing everything out would be welcoming the end, which I don't . . . yet. So, while narrowing my affairs down, I don't close them out completely. Writing is one area that I always leave something to do tomorrow, as incentive to get out of bed tomorrow.

Yep. If this is the case, then I am in real trouble. It's not just stories around here. I cannot count the number of unfinished projects I have scattered everywhere.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Might not be so bad. If I was a ghost, I could haunt a library and have the occasional story time, whenever I finish another one. Maybe make books randomly appear on the shelves.

It's not like I'd have anything else to take up my time.

This gives me so many ideas for stories, but I'd almost certainly leave them unfinished...

My plan for 2024 was to move away from writing a few longer stories that each took months to finish and try to get a shorter story done every month or so. Right now I have four stories started, all ideas I really like, but I’m not feeling any of them. So I am shifting back to working on a major project. If I get inspired to finish one of the short ones I will, but I think I have sealed my ghostly fate.

I did a long one (23 pages) and said 'never again! Followed shortly by a 21 pager!

I have struggled now with shorter ones, wanting to know more about the characters, give them a background, etc. I have another big one brewing (aptly involving a coffee shop) but keep putting off starting as I have a few shorter ones ready to go.

I do now look at stories to read and think "2 pages? is that all"

I have quite a lot of unfinished stories in folders.

From "My Sneaky Wife Jennifer" and "Trading Up" Part 2, to a Christmas story, to a Summer Lovin story, to a Mickey Spillane story, and everything in between.

You made me look that up. Now that you've done it, look up "Nymphs of the pavé."

Can someone forward this to George RR Martin, Scott Lynch and Patrick Rothfuss?
Fuck yes. Or at least make them agree to have Brandon Sanderson finish off their series if they pop it prematurely, like Robert Jordan did.

This is why I’ve always left my stories in a good state where the readers should be able to imagine a good stable ending. Even the cliffhangers- does anyone really think Kratos wouldn’t be able to beat an army of Yautja and Xenomorphs? Even with Athena against him? And when he surely has future battles ahead?
