Ugh. Can we skip today?

It's not shaping up to be a good day.

I have a migraine that started last night and is, right now, in full head-squeezing, stomach-upsetting mode.

I'm stuck at work by myself and couldn't go home sick if I wanted to. There's no one who can take my spot for a long while.

I have to hear a flute recital tonight in order to write a paper on it for one of my classes. Flute music is not going to mix well with my migraine. I'd skip it, but if I did, I'd have to write a research paper on some musical subject. I don't want to do that. I need to save those research papers for the extra credit. They're my ace in the hole.

The one person who is in the office with me has already plucked my nerve. Luckily he stays in his office, but he has the annoying habit of coming into my office (which is semi-public), reading stuff that's sitting on the printer and taking papers off the top of my monitor and reading them. I don't feel like hasing it out with him because I"m so pissy, but also it's irritating me more for the same reason.

I didn't sleep much last night, so I'm sleep-deprived too.

I can't get past the handicap match in the European Championship storyline on my N64 WWF No Mercy Game. Those basatards X-Pac and Road Dogg coordinate so well that I can't get a leg up on them. It's been two week working on it. I want that belt!

It's just not shaping up to be a great day and it's barely three hours old for me.

Ugh. Let's fast forward to tomorrow? Please??? :(

Sure Jim..we can skip today. I don't think I've had more than 6 hours of sleep in three days, a child with strep throat, a husband with bronchitis. I'm so busy at work I can't take any time off either. Oh and..next week all my rugrats are on winter break and my stepkids mom just isn't feeling much like taking them while they are off school. I hate that bitch but I swear one day, I will lose what little patience I have with her. Not like she has anything pressing like work. Must be nice. Boy..that sure turned into a rant.

foxy, is there any chance in the world that I could just lie quietly with my head in your lap and have you rub my temples?

That'd be heaven. Honest it would.

elizabeth, I think there's some kind of rule that if we get enough signatures on a petition, God will just skip us ahead to tomorrow. At least I can fantasize, right?

Sure... I'm all for skipping today! I'd like this endless week to finally end!:rose:

Whoa! Jim, you and Liz are both in bad shape!

Jim, take something for the pain!

Liz, get your husband to send you to a spa for relaxation and a massage!

Poor Jimster.

I hope your day perks up and that your weekend brings sweet surprises for you.

*hugs*

I've tried. It's not helping a lot. Last night was six Migraine-Strength Excedrin (which, normally makes things tolerable) over the course of the night. This morning, I took four more.

So far it's only blunted it a little...but not enough. This is one of them I'm going to have to ride out. I hate those. :(

*gentle hugs and a kiss on the forehead*

i'm sorry jimmie. i know the feeling, god do i know.

try drinking water to help your headache. i know that with a migraine your stomach is upset but it's important to keep hydrated. if you haven't eaten in a while then you might try some thing light.

excedrin has a lot of caffine in it, which is probably why you didn't sleep. you should talk to your doctor about the migraines. there are tons and tons of migraine medicines out there. i've tried probably about a dozen. you can find something that works for you.

i would think carefully about just how badly you need to go to this flute concert. if you work hard on your regular coursework you don't really *need* extra credit.

*rubs your shoulders* i've been there hon. i'll be there again. i'm sorry you're suffering.

Have you tried to take 50 MG of Ultram. It knocks them migraines right out.

I am all for going right to Saturday

I'll sign, send the petition over. My day is just starting and I didn't do the work I needed to last night cause I was occupied fixing the network and computers. I''d better get to it, only have an hour to go.

Hope you feel better soon Jim. At least you can play at Lit today. :)

my current wonder drug is the subcutaneous injection version of imitrex. it knocks migraines out, but unfortunately it also knocks me out. i've yet to find a medication that works exactly right for me, but something is always better than nothing.

Ultram

I give the majority of my patients Ultram for Migraines and it works well without the narcotics. Try it. If not come to me sexy I have a special plan for women with migraines.

That's my problem with stuff stronger than the heavy-duty excedrin. My Doc has offered stuff like Tylenol III before, but it puts me out like a light. At least, though it hurts like hell, I can still function to some degree. Most drugs have a very sedative effect on me and that's something I just can't do right now.

I can't afford to be out of commission today. I can't be replaced at work today and I really do need that concert tonight. I'm not confident enough in my knowledge in the class to not really need those extra-credit papers as insurance.

Thanks leXie...:)

Absolutely :)

God, thank you. I swear I'd be your cabana boy for like a year for that. I can't really think of anything that I'd rather have right now than to have my temples rubbed in a nice quiet dim room by a woman with great hands and a wonderful smile.

should I save my headache for then?

damn, I've hijacked another thread...sorry Jazzy. I think I just like repenting, it's an on my knees thing.:D

i've spent many days suffering through the pain because i need to be "functional." it sucks when the medication debilitates your more than the headache.

i think maybe i'm the headache queen. i get them often enough :( i know about 50 million little things about how to treat them, but it doesn't amount to much when i'm curled up in a dark room on the verge of tears.

Hon..I know just what you mean. I've been getting them about twice a month for the last thirteen or so years (and less frequently before then).

Usually I can feel them coming on in advance and Excedrin myself silly before they hit their full stride. I also do a couple other things to make sure they don't hit as hard (mostly relaxation excersizes). Unfortunately, when this one came on, I wasn't in a place where I could do any of those things (or at least not most of them).

This one today is about an F4 on the Fujita Headache Scale and it's spawning other storms. Yuck.

I'm going to leave work early today. My boss has very graciously agreed to sit in for me for a couple hours, just as soon as I get done with the necessary assignments of the day, including one which I won't get for about 30 minutes or so, so that's good.

Elizabeth, you need to schedule a day at Lukky_baby's Spa and Grille. Drop by at your convenience, or have perky_baby arrange for a time when you can be given the undivided attention of the subtly famous pair for some personal hands-on distraction... they're unmatched, and you won't be thinking about step-children let alone their mom. For references contact alexandraaah...

For Jim I think it's drugs, though, that sounds out of our league at the Spa and Grille.

That sounds absolutely luscious. ;)

Jazzy,

Sorry you are not feeling to well today ....
You should drink some tea ... that usually helps with my headaches along with a nice long hot shower ... but then again you are @ work ... so hence no hot shower....

Hope you feel better and get some sleep tonight... you need it.
Feel better.:rose:
