THIS COULD BE BAD OR GOOD...WHAT DO YOU THINK?

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Reuters) - Hopes for overhauling the federal tax system are fading in Washington, but in some state capitals, tax reform experiments - some far-reaching - are fast taking shape.

Across the South and Midwest, Republicans have consolidated control of state legislatures and governorships, giving them the power to test long-debated tax ideas.

Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, for instance, called on Thursday for ending the state's income tax and corporate taxes, with sales taxes compensating for lost revenue.

Helps the wealthy, fucks over families who are working hard to just barely make ends meet. Raising taxes on the middle class, working, poor, and the poor: The quintessential Republican plan.

Americans are yearning to be free.

And you'd get ass-raped as you get no benefit from income tax cuts due to being retired while the cost of everything you buy goes up. Tell me how that would make you freer.

Sales taxes are worse for the poor/middle class because much of the sales taxes come out of things the people use on a daily basis (food, gas, etc) and upping sales taxes will hurt those people the most. The only alternative in the republican scenario will be to cut services dramatically. In Colorado Springs they tried that because the people in the town wouldn't support a tax increase to balance the budget. All hell broke loose from the same people when the town started turning off the streetlights. As if those lights are funded by pixie dust and unicorn farts?? Of course not, taxes pay for all those things and as much and people don't like paying taxes, it would suck even more to have roads falling apart, no water pipes, schools, or any of the hundred other things that taxes pay for.

This experiment is going to fail badly and I can't wait to watch parts of the south/midwest go to shit even more so than usual because it will be the people who voted for those cranks who did it to themselves.

I support a flat tax on everybody. I do not support heavy taxes on production.

Actually it isn't the government's job to take care of anyone, especially for the purpose of creating a voting block.

So that goes for subsidies for the defense, agriculture, finance, and manufactoring industries as well right?? Govt's job isn't to take care of anyone right?

I'm so tired of this conservative bullshit that looks the other way when it benefits them but screeches to high heaven if the magnifying glass is turned on them. As if there aren't republican politicians that aren't propping up the defense industry to secure a voting block...

As for a flat tax, that's just as fucking stupid as a sales tax...it only benefits the wealthy. So let's fuck over 90% of the people living here, just because a flat tax sounds more fair? Bullshit. People keep complaining that taxes are too high, however after WWII, the top tax bracket was over 90%! Taxes are about as low as they ever have been and republicans want to cut them even more. Total bullshit. If they were soooo serious about it, explain GWB's presidency that exploded the debt with TWO wars AND tax cuts? Again a total bullshit argument.

He's gonna tell you that the Constitution covers defense. He would probably have supported Obama building the Death Star as soon as he was convinced it would be aimed at the Middle East and China and would self destruct if so much as pointed a camera at America.

Ignorning the fact that we spend more than the next five major powers COMBINED...

Here is what I think.

1.this country HAS to cut down on spending so damned much money!

2. taxes for everyone is going to go up no matter what or who promises what.

3. We are wasting our time if we don't do what we can to promote new, business, keep the Business here in the USA and help that which is here Grow. This is going to mean getting our tax requirements in line with other Nations at the least. Review business regulations and requirements and make some changes.

4. Over haul the medical system and the IRS ( Obama care is a sick joke even if we could afford it, which we cannot.)

Yes, this is going to require lots of people that do not agree to set down and figure it out and Yes, everyone is going to be unhappy with the results.

Now, as to how much pain we are willing to endure before we do this ...I do not know.

Yes. Tax the hell out of base economic activity. Superb growth plan.

We could spend more than the planet spends on everything else combined. It's the military and the Founding Fathers always planned for us to be the baddest motherfuckers on the planet.

1. Yes, so let's start with the biggest item in the descretionary budget - the military. They spend more than the rest of the fed govt budget combined.

2. Yes, so how about we target that towards the people who can actually pay it - those making over $100k a year vs people who can barely eat or afford housing as it is?

3. False argument, if there is money to be made business will find a way to do it. Even in the recession there were companies making record profits. If anything, businesses need to be crimally prosecuted for off shoring money instead of waiting for 'tax holidays'.

4. I agree, healthcare is a joke. Get rid of the for-profit health insurance industry for starters..they are nothing but a money sucking appendix that doesn't serve any reasonable function. Get universal heathcare actually going and lower costs through preventative care instead of waiting until it gets out of proportion.

For the IRS I agree as well... scrap the whole tax code and start from scratch with a clear progressive tax structure with minimal deductions. Making sure there are brackets that include anyone +500k, +1mil, and +10mil.

Hey, fgarvb1:

I don't ever remember you asking me for my advice about how you chose to conduct your life up until now...

...just as I don't ever remember asking you for your advice on how to conduct my own affairs, either.

So...

...why all of the sudden do you reckon my business is any of yours at all, when I still don't consider your business any of mine?

Where's all this "we" crap you got going on now coming from?

You've never invited "we" to use your Union-bought boat on the weekends...

...ffs, you've never even sent "we" a friggin' Xmas card from the wages of your Union-paid job.

When was the last time you invited "we" over for dinner bought with your Union-dedicated efforts...

...yet, you reckon you have negotiating rights on anything connected to anyone else's life but your own?"

Wtf...

...over?

There is always the internet for tax free shopping unless there is another law passed.

Well, you seem to have a short in the logic circuit board in the old main frame.

Those are my thoughts on the matter.

"We", for now are going to have to pay for all of the crap "Our" government spends "our" money on.

Perhaps you have another solution?

I certainly pay enough taxes to voice my opinion.

What is your answer to this national Debt problem?

Something that might have a chance of working in the real world please...

Oh, and I don't owe you a fucking thing fellow.

my state income tax just went up 67%. i call that a pretty major change. did i mention our democrat legislative super majority?

So far that Bill hasn't passed.

It is about time for them to try again kind of like gun control and religious freedom restrictions for Christians.

They don't ever stop oozing toward you.

Your state income tax probably went from 3% to 5% but instead of calling it a 2% increase 67% sounds much more scary.
