U.S. Republican senators ask Treasury for suspicious activity reports on Hunter Biden

Gee, this couldn’t be retaliation. How’s about some reports on Jared, Ivanka, and Dumber Donald, Jr.?
 
Why, of course they are. They seem to think that Trump's crimes--and their help in trying to cover up those crimes--will be enough of a fig leaf to bamboozle the electorate. The pity is that they may be right.

Guess God is going to have to step in on Trump if he wants the planet saved.

When the corrupt/criminal Trump crony Bill Barr took over as Attorney General (?) Was this a trick question?

In less that two hours, the State Department will have defied a court order to turn over background documents on the removal of Ambassador Yovanovitch from the Ukraine. If State doesn't make the deadline, this will be the first Trump mob constitutional crisis with the courts. We'll have to see if Bill Barr trots over to State in the morning and puts Mike Pompeo in the slammer until he complies.

What do you bet, FGB? Is the Trump mob going to ignore the Constitution on this? (And you alt-righters keep saying it's the left that's unleashing a coup against the American system.)

That should pose no intrusion if there were no events that generated suspicious activity reports. Of there such reports, I can't really in good conscience support that.

Given that I am a fan of leaning towards the protection of our civil liberties I'm not a big fan of those sort of reports. "We noticed you were playing around with cash, why were you playing with cash and wmwere you doing illegal things with that cash?" seems overly intrusive. But the system is in place and likely would be interesting. Interesting, does not mean though, that we the public have a right to that in my view.

I can kind of understand the public policy interest in observing people commingling unreported cash into the banking system but I have a hard time understanding why cash withdrawals serve any such purpose. Just because you could do illegal things with cash is no reason to keep track of who is using cash. It says right on the cash "For all debts public and private."

Given that Hunter can afford some very good quality cocaine I don't think it unreasonable at all that he has routine cash withdrawals for tens of thousands of dollars. I don't think that's necessarily anyone's business but his and his drug counselor's.

For no reason other than a general hunch at what thresholds likely are, I try to never withdraw more than $3,000 at a time. I keep a reasonable amount on hand and out of the banking system for things like purchasing a vehicle for cash should I decide to do so or paying a mechanic that I hope isn't dumb enough to report the income..

I didn't follow the entire sales pitch but apparently there's some authority for the US Government government to seize bouillon as possibly suspicious whereas minted coins are considered for their numismatic value and immune from that particular statute. Don't think that would actually stop the government from grabbing coins if they felt the us to fight in doing so but nevertheless I went with coins.

No, this is simply ignoring the "HOW DARE YOU" deflection by Dems who cooked up the whole Ukrainian poutrage to inoculate Biden from having to justify taking money for access through the enrichment of a family member.

It's a reprise of the origins of the Russia Russia Russia nonsense which was cooked up in order to inoculate Hillary from valid accusations that she was on Putin's payroll. Pretty stupid because the Trump campaign never really did anything with all of the information contained in the Clinton cash Scandal. Hillary just assumed that that was going to be a topic that she was going to have to defend so the Russia Russia Russia nonsense was cooked up so that when Hillary was accosted she could claim that that was a deflection from Trump's made up Russia Russia Russia problem.

The the clintons with the help of Carville and Stephanopoulos invented the entire concept of deny delay and deflect. They are experts at that. The DNC has now a full generation of experience with the tactic.

The whole Ukraine thing and its timing is designed to get out in front of the ig's report so that when the IG report finally actually drops in is picked apart to find the meat on the bones they will claim that the IG report which by far predates the Ukrainian nonsense was simply a distraction from the Ukrainian nonsense when the reverse is true.

You can always tell what worries Democrats by what they are protecting in the latest narrative. That's always what they are worried about coming to light.

That was a bizzare interview, and the apologists that insist there is NO EVIDENCE! that obvious impropriety was obviously inappropriate, likely intended to, at a minimum, let Burisma and China assume they were buying access or actual policy influence, at worst actual influence peddling are either completely clueless, or completely disingenuous.

Biden bragged about it. Obama's State department murmured concerns about it, but let it go unabated, and looking into it is an OUTRAGE!

^^^You have pointed toward the actual coup: "Russia, if you're out there listening, find the missing emails."

With regard to the title of this thread, as Sondland said, Trump did not necessarily want an actual investigation into the Bidens, but he definitely wanted a public announcement by Ukraine that they would conduct such an investigation.

That's his M.O., just as it was with his former public announcements that information would be coming forth any day about the foreign birthplace of Barrack Obama. Hell, that's the M.O. of all the right wing conspiracy theorists on this board.
