U.S. Marines land at Kandahar

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from officials of Marines on the ground, reported by NBC’s Norah O’Donnell, came as Mohammad Anwar, spokesman for Gud Fida Mohammad, a commander of the Achakzai tribe fighting at the airport southeast of Kandahar, told Reuters that since Sunday evening, when tribal fighters took control of the airport, a stream of U.S. helicopters had been landing there.
Huge aircraft circled overhead while a stream of CH-53 and CH-46 transport helicopters flew constantly in and out of the airfield, Anwar said.
Some of the helicopters were described as Chinooks bringing in armored vehicles; if confirmed these would be the first such U.S. armored ground craft confirmed in Afghanistan since the United States launched its attacks on Oct. 7.
The Pentagon declined official comment. “We cannot discuss future or ongoing military operations or troop movements,” said Air Force Lt. Col. Ken McClellan, a Pentagon spokesman.
A senior defense official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press that additional Marines were to arrive by C-130 transport planes. The official would not discuss the Marines’ intended mission, except to say they would perform “a variety of functions.”

The last I heard from one of my long-time buddies (desert storm) was that he was going on a med cruise. He may be in country. May all the Gods and Buddhas protect him and keep him safe to come home to his growing family.

And FYI, dipstick, the NA have every right to execute Taliban prisoners if they pose a threat to the safety and well-being of NA soliders, or better yet, U.S. Special Forces operatives that are working in conjunction with the NA.. So get off your high-horse if you think that the execution of Taliban soliders is a 'grave' injustice.. Personally, I think every single one of those fuckers should die.. Now.. The fast majority of sources

Indicate that the only massacres occuring are of foreign soldiers, i.e., mercs, who always know what happens when they end up on the loosing side. The Northern alliance has been on its best behavior with the majority of massacres being the Taliban killing its own and the recent uprising of POW's, again the foreigners.

The Times is simply biased against Bush, and the United States. THier goal is one happy world order under UN comand. One great socialistic vision for the world in which everyone works for the collective good, taking only what they need...

Personally, if I had been living under the heel of the Taliban, I would take any chance I had @ getting my revenge on those bastards.. Also, RED.. See if you can find me any 'sources' on how many innocent civillans the Taliban have executed during their reign in Afghanistan.. If the 'eye for an eye' belief of mine paints a 'facist thug' label on my forehead, then so be it.. I'd rather have my revenge on the fuckers that got me then have them walk away with clean hands..
