SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt—The West’s diplomatic push at the United Nations climate summit faces a major obstacle: the long-running struggle inside the U.S. to deliver funds for the developing world’s response to global warming.

The U.S. has lagged behind other wealthy countries in providing funds for poorer countries to cut emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change. The Trump administration sharply cut climate finance in its budgets. The Biden administration has promised to boost climate finance to $11.4 billion annually, but its request in last year’s budget was cut from $2.7 billion to $1 billion during Senate negotiations amid Republican opposition.

We caused the majority of the carbon in the world shocker that other countries understand that

Actually the same amount of Carbon that was in the world a billion years ago is still here. We neither created it, nor destroyed it. Approximately 100 metrics tons of space debris enters the Earths atmosphere daily. How much of that is Carbon and how much is converted to CO2 in the oxidation phase of entry?

Every prognostication by the environmental catastrophists has fallen on it's ass, every one. They're like the dude with the sign board that says, "The World is ending". Eventually they'll be right, just not tomorrow.............or anytime soon.

According to research, as published by the government, we MIGHT reach Carbon neutral energy production by 2240. But the models being trotted out only give us 30 more years...............maybe.

First of all I'm not opposed to that as a goal, but do you believe that government(s) can keep the population in a state of panic for that long? Histrionics can only go so far. Germany is opening it's coal mines, so is China. Europe, as a whole, is cutting down their forests for wood to heat their homes. The US and Canada are not far behind. Yeah buddy, that's all environmentally conscious. Replace 'dirty' energy with 'dirtier' energy.

Humans, like any other animal, have the will to survive and if that takes eliminating every 'environmentalist' from the face of the Earth, well, that's exactly what's going to happen.

Should have started forty years ago, when we first started seeing the consequences.

That's a long explanation of you denying anthropogenic climate change.

True!! In for the win.

What is also true is the industrialised nations are the leaders for releasing all that stored Carbon back out into the environment. Planet earth took billions of years sequestering it. Humans have managed to release a whole bunch back in the last 150 years or so.

Guess which countries are number one and number two at releasing Carbon back into the atmosphere?

So guess what, if you were one of the leading contributors releasing carbon to build up your wealth, it is pretty illogical to not now pay back to clean up part of the mess you made becoming wealthy. You don't get to pretend you didn't create the problem, and walk away with your cash...

For all your crowing about your education, about your accomplishments, about the connections you have, you are one ignorant SOB! Or do you just turn off that part of your brain when it conflicts with something you want to believe? FFS. Of course we have the same amount of carbon, The key is where it is. A whole fucking bunch of it was locked up in fossil fuels, until humans started releasing it. For every gallon of gasoline burned (if it doesn't contain ethanol) 19.64 POUNDS of CO2 are released. EVERY...FUCKING...GALLON! If you don't believe me, check the math.
https://yourquestionz.com/how-many-pounds-of-carbon-in-a-gallon-of-gas-kap7/

So just multiply that by fuel burned to figure out how much, per year is being dumped into the atmosphere.

So quit with the ignorant bullshit. You're wrong. Admit it. Unless you still want to play the dumbass card, which knowing your history here wouldn't be a surprise.

Comshaw

OK genius, where was that carbon BEFORE it was locked up?

A variation on the lawyers joke (and Shakespeare).

Get off your high hobby horse and adult up.

It’s not surprising that after insisting he would not cave to demands for the US to pay climate reparations to developing nations, John Kerry did exactly that. Fortunately the GOP is unlikely to release funding for the reparations shakedown.

Kershner's First Law: "When a self-governing people confer upon their government the power to take from some and give to others, the process will not stop until the last bone of the last taxpayer is picked bare."

Lots of finger waggers in this thread. How many of you are willing to live the life of someone in a third-world country with a low carbon footprint?

NONE - that's how many. Because you enjoy the ability to be sanctimonious by posting on the internet; one of the largest energy hogs on Earth.

Not as large as bitcoin mining.

Climate reparations are just another form of global income redistribution. It’s not enough that U.S. industrialized first and then lifted billions of people out of poverty via investment and trade. Kerry and Biden would happily give away American taxpayer dollars if the incoming GOP House would allow it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions

Column Four - 13%.

Canada - Turkey - SA - SK - 2% each

Australia - UK - 1% each

India - 6%

Total - 28%

China - 28%

Now which country's standard of living do you wish to enjoy?

Check your bias at the door please.
Yes, I get that you were thinking current emissions.

Maybe gaze at the cumulative chart on the same page,.sparky
