U.S.A. vs Canada

The current tension between the US and Canada is comprable to sibling rivalry where a couple of brothers get into an arguement over something petty but at the end of the day you're still sharing the same bunk bed. The US and Canada are close enough to get thru this with some hurt feelings being the most serious result. If Iraq just so happened to accidentally kill a few Isreali soilders it would lead to a bloodbath.

YAY my city was in that report.

I think it's funny Americans know shit about Canada and Canadians know alote about the US why??? Americans think that the US is it's own world :p

Thanks for sharing that amiss!

Did anyone ever see that show The Canadian Question? They used to have it as a filler between movies on Superchannel? Funniest damn thing I ever saw!!

I ain't TOUCHIN" this one!

In the interests of Diplomacy, I am leaving this one ALONE... :)

Since, in the dim and distant past, my degree was in International Relations...:D

Good Mornin' America! How are ya? (Arlo Guthrie)

First of all why don't we become one big motha-fuckin' country? *sigh* then maybe PC won't diss me anymore....but aside from that, what really is the difference between Canada & the US? IMO we have the same culture.

Canadians are whinier. They win that one hands down.

Was that a joke? I don't know... was it?

No thanks. I've lived in both - and there IS a difference in Culture - not that I don't like theirs... I do, but there are enough significant differences to prefer to be here in The True North. :D

Very little is known of the Canadian country since it is rarely visited by anyone but the Queen and illiterate sport fisherman. - P.J. O'Rourke

Canada is so square that even the female impersonators are women. - Richard Benner

In any world menu, Canada must be considered the vichyssoise of nations - it's cold, half French, and difficult to stir. - Stuart Keate

Canada is the only country in the world that knows how to live without an identity. - Marshall McLuhan

:p

OK, just so I don't completely piss off my northern neighbors:

The trouble with us in America isn't that the poetry of life has turned to prose, but that it has turned to advertising copy. - Louis Kronenburger

Some America delusions:
  1. That there are no class-consciousness in the country.
  2. That American coffee is good.
  3. That Americans are business-like.
  4. That Americans are highly-taxed and that red-heads are more highly sexed than others.
- W. Somerset Maugham

The United States is a nation of laws; badly written and randomly enforced. - Frank Zappa

Zed: Well, I guess you better go and wake him up then.

I have the sudden urge to smack you one!
With a sweet smile on my face of course.

I like Canada

I fish in Ontario every year and love the Country. The people are great. That is my take.

I like Canadians, but those Quebec truck drivers are a menace.

If we had the same culture, I'd be able to understand what the Newfies were saying, bye? But then, sometimes I can't understand the folks in Maine either. The United States isn't all one culture, and neither is Canada. I've got friends on both sides of the border, and people are people, eh? We're all odd in our own little way.

(though kissing a cod seems a bit more of a commitment than going out for a cup of coffee together...and probably doesn't taste as good)

:D

I have to go with the idea that we are really one "country"! Seems 90% or so of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border and regularly come to visit their cousins. As far as I'm concernd they are as always welcome as family, as I have always felt there

'Cept for thgat "foriegn speakin' part!

RhumbRunner;)

Not all americans are dunces despite what the media would like to believe

I find it fascinating that articles such as the one linked never publish the flip side of the picture. That of course might lead one to believe that some of us did more then nose pick while we were in school. I know a lot about Canada. I like Canada it is a beautiful country. Anyone ever been to Banff?

My family tree spirals up into Canada as do millions of others in this country. What is sad is that press which is so quick to suck the drama from the most trivial of events failed to take an opportunity to do some good. I was horrified by the loss of those lives. They could have done more to put faces to the statistics but of course that wouldn't be as interesting as a tour of the Nappa valley wine fields.

Yeah, and they say "zed" instead of "zee" for the last letter of the alphabet.

Don't you remember the promise versus the reality of Canada?

The promise was that they would have the best of British government, French culture and American know-how. The reality is that they got French government, British know-how and American culture.

As do all English-speaking countries other than the US.

Don't forget the Irish work-ethic...

Oh, Yes... Ginger - we don't believe Americans are dunces - but the "urban legends" like ski-raks on US visitors' cars in July actually HAPPEN quite frequently - so a great many folks are not as fortunate as you are re: knowledge of our quaint little Banana Republic. :D
