I guess I shall be the one to play the Lit Devil's advocate, though I dislike doing so.
Satyr this is an RP board yes, but its not exactly like D&D or AD&D. Its more of a communally written story, so writting/typing/spelling skills are pretty important. Don't need to be perfect but it makes life easier on EVERYONE when your posts are easy to read and easy to follow.
As for hopping into a story- check out the open CC's- stands for "Casting Call". Normally its because someone has a thread idea that they want to start up. For examples, I'd check out the Dragon Wars II OOC (out of character) CC as well as the IC (in character) threads. They're a pretty good example of what I'm talking about.
We're a pretty welcoming group here on the ORP board, just follow most if not all of the rules Raven's got posted up somewhere and life'll be just fine.

Welcome Satyr. Vix pretty much hit all the high points. There are a few people that play on computer generated table tops games over the comp. I think Evil Attorney is one of them. If you have the creativity and imagination to play that much D n D, I am sure you will find this forum to your liking.

I play D&D online on a message board. Kind of more fun that way its not all about dice rolling and focuses on role playing. Then again I run my own D&D game and the group around here consists of mostly imature people that get on my nerves. My only problem with finding any D&D stuff here is I play in Ravenloft. Forgotten Realms is the big thing.
