I discovered a site today that has the basis for a FANTASTIC program! :nana: At present it is pretty limited in scope and I can't figure out how to download my creation onto my own HD (Does anybody have a screen capture program?). The program is called "TypeDrawing" and that is just what it does. You type in words in a box and then use your mouse to draw something. The words become your lines (or the lines are composed of your words, whatever).

It is very slow loading if you have dialup, and you can't download the software or even your finished drawing at present, but what possibilities this begins to open up for poetry!
I'm going to be first in line when the program is finished and goes on sale!

The URL for the site is: TypeDrawing

and my first feeble sketch is here: Essence of Tree

or in longhand:

Essence of Tree (a TypeDrawing)

It was VERY slow loading for me, but it worked after it finally got loaded. You have to have Flash and activeX inabled. When it is ready you just put your screen cursor where you want to start, press and hold the mouse button, and draw. Let up the button when you have finished that line and press and hold again when you want to draw another. There is an undo button if you don't like what you just drew. Also, you can change your text and draw lines with different words. In its current beta version the amount of lines you can draw is limited, as are the fonts and colors (shades of gray), but think of the potential with a full blown program! - Remember Linbido's illustrated poem Branches And Twigs (before she ran off to play mommy)? How fine it would be not to need the photograph of the tree to place the words on! :)

I use to have the Lit name LiteraryArt
I lost it in limbo when changing emails
I had changed e-mails and then changed it
here at Lit ...that's a no no, you need both
e-mails to change your e-mail, any way I lost that name <grin>

I saw some pictures with the program you speak of
or one similar, of jesus and another was a hollow log
with a rabbit in it that the words told a story, really moving.

I don't have a program but love Literary Art in any form <smile>
I also did a Texas flag, a Yin Yang and a pumkin with halloween
poems and stories for the contest. But I do them one word/link
at a time on a thread so edit is easy.

also you can write and fill a page up ...word pad
with a story or phrase and capy over and paste to
bitmap or draw or paint and paste and use the fine
eraser to draw out an image going back to fix the words needed
to complete the story lost of work but lots of fun

hope your typedraw works for ya,
and hope to see some results (~_~)

Yes- I DO remember that one! Seeing it had given me an idea but I nearly forgot it cuz I didn't know how to make it work... Now I think I do. I'll have to practice a lot. I'm on my sis' computer- how do I enable flash and active x? She has cable- it's pretty fast... I see a Challenge with this in about 6 mos to a year! LOL

Well, I got my first play attempt downloaded onto my HD. I am going to submit it as an Illustrated Poem (if I can remember how) so that anyone who can't get the site to work can at least get an idea of the basic idea. - Look for an Illustrated Poem titled Tree Essence.

Thanks you two. It is just a scribble. I was trying the program out. It is hard to draw accurately with a track ball and I'm not an artist anyway! :) I may have to resubmit it to Lit. I think there is a size limit to the pictures they accept. :(

FYI - RE: Screen Capture
I finally figured out that to capture the image you hit "print screen" (prtScn) and then open a graphics program like Mspaint; go to edit; then click paste. You get a giant bitmap image that you then can crop and edit, etc.

Thanks Rybka, I'll try that. It's getting discovered now, busier and busier.

You just had to go and tell everybody, didn't you! :D :p :D
You squirrels just can't keep a secret! :) :)

Illustrated Poem Accepted

My first example of TYPEDRAWiNG has been approved.

"Tree Essence" should be up tomorrow. (I hope)

Looking forward to seeing it Rybka. My beef is that I can't find my earlier efforts.

It is up now. There are several other illustrated poems as well, including two by Angeline.
