Alright folks, let's weed out the enlightened from the miscreants and see a show of hands: who truly appreciates British comedy? Now, I'm not a buff on it or anything, but I've split my sides laughing at my fair share of "Monty Python's Flying Circus," "Fawlty Towers," "Keeping Up Appearances," and "The Vicar of Dibley." What about the rest of you? Please do tell...

Agree completely. Anything that even hints of John Cleese makes me laugh. I shouldn't admit it, but I always got a big kick out of Benny Hill too. I loved the little poems they'd act out.

Are you Being Served?

I love that show....as well as Keeping Up Appearences....Blackadder...I, II..ect..(how many were there?)

The ever infamous Monty Python: Flying Circus.....( frankly, who DOESN'T like these guys?!?)

Prolly numerous others I can't remember off the top of my head.....

Monty Python's Flying Circus and movies
Red Dwarf *Smeghead!
Fawlty Towers *Coming Darling, (you bag of dung!)
Mr. Bean
I've got most of the tapes of all those listed above.

**Another great hilarious comedy is watching the Parliment live on the tube! ** :D :D

heheh.....Whats the show that is in WWI in German occupied France? (or was it WWII???)

That was funny!

I forgot to mention Mr. Bean, he was great! I gotta agree with you on the Parliment. When I'm over there for extended periods, I watch it. I think they reherse it all, don't you? They are very theatrical in making their points and they lampoon each other with magnificent style. Lol.

I am on my college Parli. Debate team...while most of the time it is pretty calm and laid back...sometimes it CAN get pretty vocal and wild....especially if its between two rivals....^^.

"Allo Allo" was the name of the show Silverluna :)

Being Australian, I guess we are still connected to the UK in many ways... British humour is still very much a favourite of mine.

Also i don;t know if it ever made it to the US or not, but there was also Yes Minister and Yes Priminister :)

I was raised on "Monty Python" and "Fawlty Towers" (my grandmother had wonderful taste!). I also like "Ab Fab", "Are You Being Served", "Black Adder", etc etc :D I haven't seen "Red Dwarf" in ages...can't find a channel that's carrying it :(

My favorites are:

Monty Python (bows real low to the British Comedy Gods)

Are You Being Served? (I love Mr. Humphries..."Mens wear...?")

Red Dwarf ("You wouldn't know a subtle plan if it jumped up and down on your face naked singing Subtle Plans Are Here Again.")

Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson's eyes crack me up)

Now they were quality!

Reruns of "Yes Minister" are being shown on cable in the UK at the moment...

Haven't seen it for years...

Still bloody hilarious!

:D

Red Dwarf is excellent
Black Adder is a riot
The Brittas Empire is great
Hitchhiker's guide to the universe is very good

There's more. I love the Britcoms

British TV comedy is streets ahead of that in the USA....

Ben Elton rocks :D

But my all time favourite is Basil Brush.
Yep, when it comes to the kids stuff, Basil wins every time :D

When I was a kids I even had knickers with Basil on them...

*boom boom*

"The Young Ones", which I believe Ben Elton was responsible for. What else has he done?

They had a cable station here that specialized in Britcoms.

Anybody else remember "Bless this House", "Doctor in the House", "Father, Dear Father", "Up Pompeii", or "My Wife Next Door"?

Black Adder...... any many more. Can't think off hand at the moment.....

I couldn't agree more...all of the shows I have heard mentioned here are fabulous. Oh bother, now I have to go searching around for my tapes of these shows....this should be a riot in itself.

Eddie Izzard.

I saw a stand-up of his once on HBO and laughed myself sick.

Men behaving badly.

But Scottish comedy Rab C. Nesbit, has had its moments. I suppose there's the language problem.

Ali G. surely

and from the past Marty Feldman - anyone recall and Porridge
