Two STD tests, one positive, one negative. Chances?

Hey everyone, I'm a 24-year old female who is new to the board. I had a one-night stand three weeks ago where I was dumb enough not to use a condom. Intercourse lasted about 30 mins.

I got tested 5 days afterwards, and 2 weeks afterwards. The first test (swab) tested positive for Gonorrhea, and the second test (urine) tested negative for Gonorrhea. Everything else came out negative. What should I do?

What are the chances of a false positive and false negative? I couldn't find either online.

I was incredibly stupid, and still need to get tested for HPV/HIV/HSV after the incubation period (generally 3 months). Needless to say I'll be using a condom every time in the future.

Did you get and take antibiotics after the first test? That could explain the results of the second test 2 weeks later.

But like DarkBee said, you should see and talk to your doctor to make sure you're not infected.

Your options are:

1. Spend lots of time worrying about which test was the right one, whether you do have gonorrhoea, if you're gonna pass it on, and whether if you do have it, is it going to make you infertile.

Or

2. See the doc / GUM clinic - short course of antibiotics. Sorted.

It's an interesting question re the statistical aspects of testing but the pragmatic approach is the best here.

what makes you think you have gon after 3 weeks? yeah i know sometimes things come up sooner rather than later, but what are your symptons, if any?

Urinalysis is not the appropriate test for gonorrhea. A swab is, or at least that was the standard test when I used to work in a lab. If you have not had antibiotics, that is a must. You really have to be careful with STD's as they can possibly leave lasting issues, causing issues with fertility in your future.

Well, it doesn't always show symptoms well in women. There's usually a discharge, but with all the cleaning pussies do for themselves, it could easily go unnoticed.
